Re: Time to Stand Firm

You've got my support and many more at AC. If Swoop is dependant on reduced pilot wages to make it work then it shouldn't start. We have the Cancer called Rouge and trust me they will take your Mainline flying and once it's gone it's gone!! Then all you guys working the steady diet of OT will final...

Re: Swoop Blacklist

Tbaylx and J Roc Great read and perspectives on the last two posts above here. Thanks. I have zero doubt that the poster on the pprune forum has seen pilots stomp on each other for the last 30 years while management across the board showing their crocodile smiles and fattening their wallets. Re: Swoop Blacklist

As an Encore pilot close to flow i will gladly stay at encore a little while longer to have this swoop nonsense figured out properly as opposed to not fighting for what we ALL deserve. Its a small price to pay to help everyone out in the end as opposed to just myself right now and most likely in th...

Re: SWOOP startup/WJ Tail loss

Can someone that works at WJ provide some insight on why they are operating 3 companies under the same Holding Company? From a layman’s point of view, it seems like an aweful lot of WASTED “man power” in the sense that each of these companies, particularly Encore and now Swoop, all have their own co...

http://m.huffingtonpost.ca/jerry-dias/forcing-pilots-into-unstable-jobs-creates-a-bumpy-ride-for-everyone_a_23356695/ As part of my job, I'm in the air a lot, heading off to meet with members across the country. Oh ffs. Sure. Maybe be a diplomat. Maybe ‘tell them to go to hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip’. Couch your language in a fashion that doesn’t bunch the panties like they’ve been bunched here. But don’t mistake the message. I can’t f***ing believe I have to elaborate: “Time buil...

The pilots who flew the 57, along with all the other pilots flying for Jazz, pooled their pay, and distribute pay based on years of service only (so they were paid as much as any other 57 driver they just chose to pay out the same way provincial equalization payments work) rather than based on type...

Swoop to join ALPA

For all upcoming applicants outside the Teal Crystal Palace (WJ/WJE), should you be considering to cross over to the Pink Side Show - then consider unionizing yourselves. Obviously there’s numerous strategies going on trying to get pilots to battle each other at WJ (as have most airlines have done i...

Re: Meet Swoop - WestJet's ultra-low-cost carrier has a name, a home and a purpose

Swoop will take from current Westjet flying . Make no mistake. Canada is a SMALL market and there are only a handful of viable secondary airports/routes... we will see Swoop across your domestic network, US, Caribean, maybe even on the Atlantic... I have no doubt. Don't forget the flying is yours, ...

Re: Meet Swoop - WestJet's ultra-low-cost carrier has a name, a home and a purpose

Also, if your goal is to go overseas and fly heavy metal, a 737NG type rating and 500 hrs on type is almost a guarantee job, making over 150K a year somewhere in Asia or the ME. So, it is an attractive offer but only as a stepping stone to those who want to move on quickly. You spelled 350K wrong. ...

Re: Meet Swoop - WestJet's ultra-low-cost carrier has a name, a home and a purpose

Here we go. From an outsider looking in, it's obvious that their proposed staffing will likely want to come from Encore. It's a brutal blow to our industry no matter how this is sliced... unless we remain strong in our commitment to shed the bs of this industry and trying to reduce WAWCON. The best ...

Re: Encore ALPA vote??

There is a problem with Encore WAWCON? You would never know that talking to any Encore pilot. Things are perfect there from what I understand. Makes sense then that Encores most experienced pilots decide to quickly move over to the 737 for less than half their salary. I also understand that their C...

They are not the same. No matter how bad you want them to be. My interest lies in only seeing a nationwide representation for the benefit of all pilots. I could care less about the egotistical intercompany squabbles that come from a few short sighted fellow "professionals". And it IS 1 company. Jus...

Re: ALPA card drive starts today!

If the card drive at Encore has started, ALPA has already won. I'd wager 20 days to certification, only because we work so damn much! And why do we have our own forum now? We're in the process of UNITING our pilot group, not separating it. Probably because you work at Encore. Not Westjet. The money...

What gives here? What is taking these guys so long to follow suit? Not every pilot in Canada thinks that Unions are the be all, end all saviours of the profession. Encore ALPA vote??

What gives here? What is taking these guys so long to follow suit? I assumed with little mention of this that this was a no brainer, but I just found out that they have yet to even vote, let alone certify! Perhaps there is a greater disconnect between the groups. Common sense would dictate that if y...

Lots of good tips here. Marine Charts (either old school paper or loaded on a GPS/phone) is an invaluable tool to study prior to heading off to an unfamiliar destination. Tide lines, shoals, sandbars etc are all availble for you to assess. Topo Charts will help you visualize/predict how the wind may...

Re: Demand for float drivers 2017?

WAWCON in Canada goes contrary to evolution, common sense, and inflation. Don't expect monumental changes in the pond world anytime soon. HA and others on the lower mainland only want "seasonal" workers these days.

Good luck.
