Re: 900 New jobs at Air Canada LCC

If LCC is separate and AC goes back into CCAA, could they not just shovel all the work over to LCC?

Canadian Labour Code only applies to Federally-regulated industries, eg transportation, banking, telecom. No authority over pro sports.

Re: OAC Pilots Signature??

Still a few bitter guys out there still apparently. Really, endless? A purported blue guy is bitter because the red guys, eight years on and with rulings from the CIRB and every Federal Court to the contrary, they're still fighting over seniority? Just who are the bitter ones? What would you do if ...

Re: Gas to hit a $1 per litre!

Iceman, the theory is sound but in practise it doesn't seem to work that way. For example, in anticipation of Gustav shutting down both crude and refined supply, the wholesale refined gas price jumped 4.5 cents in one day. No supply had yet been interrupted (aside from PetroCan not being able to sup...

Re: Are Winnipeg Air Canada Pilots next?

Can't help but wonder where similar concern went when AC decided to shut down YEG? Democratic process, pilots in YUL got to vote on whether pilots in YEG would have to move... MInd you , that was after pilots in YUL got to vote on whether pilots in YEG would be forced onto ZIP with lower pay and poo...

Re: AC's future

There would not have been a merger for one thing.
Of course there would have, and the merged airline would be owned by ONEX.

French/English on ALL flights (you can consider all material documents in this as well (manuals, etc.)).
French approach plates, MEL, AOM, FOM? Notams in francais, really? Don't think so, Tim.

Re: Favorite aviation movies!

That was Bob Demert of Carmen, Manitoba. For all his weird ideas (steam-powered car was the last one I saw), he is/was quite a guy; built mostly from plans the only Zero flying with the original motor, and flew his own Hurricane in the movie "Battle of Britain." To add to the list: The Bridges at To...

Re: AC's future

At the time of the ACPPA, Air Canada was given an office building (transferred from another Crown corporation) in Montreal to ameliorate the requirement to keep their HQ there. Pity the airline sold the building and pissed the money away.

Four billion dollars in debt from CAI were added to AC's two billion
Air Canada's pre-merger on-balance-sheet debt was $3.3 billion. CAIL's on-balance-sheet debt was $700 million. (from AC & CAIL annual reports).

Re: 777-300ER YVR-SYD

AC doesn't have First Class, there's Business (aka Executive) and Hospitality (aka Economy). Since no one one based on this continent is willing to offer that service, that probably means there just isn't sufficient market to demand it. That said, BA's First Class service is far better than anything...

Not entirely true, a pilot in YVR was given a year off to work on a music career. Maybe it helps if you have boobs and wear a miniskirt?

Troll alert. BTW, if a city happens to have fewer fires for a year or two or three, should they argue that firefighter salaries should go down on as well? Hey, fewer fires, fewer calls (even from your alleged and laughable "busiest pumper station in NA"), might as well cut the pay, right? Moron. Ano...

I am curious to know if the Canadi>n pilots let the Air Canada pilots fly the 777.
Since only 28 of 163 B777 Captains are OCP, that comment merely points out your level of ignorance.

Jetette, don't feel so bad. ACPA evidently sent mine to an obsolete address, and I've updated my address TWICE since I left that place. So, the cheque has gone to the other side of the planet. No worries, cancel and reissue it, like any normal organization would do, correct? Oh no, can't cancel it, ...
