YOW to YVR is always about $700 ballpark if not more round trip…

Re: Cell Phone Plans Canada/USA

I have found it best to have a different sim card for each country / region. Just too expensive otherwise. Good call! some other good advice - Koodo "Saskatchewan" Plan Unlimited Calling / Txt / MMS + 5 gigs of fast data. now $53 a / month. No roaming in all of Canada!! I switched a few months ago ...

Re: STOH vs SMOH

For small privately registered aircraft maintained under CAR 625 Appendix B and C no hard time and calendar time maintenance intervals are enforced. You are never required to overhaul an engine regardless of the manufacturers recommended intervals. good to know - and what If I want to commercially ...

haha nice image :)

i'm willing to bet in some cases though that an Owner will do a better job (than a rushed mechanic) if they have mechanical ability, correct knowledge, and take their time.

STOH vs SMOH

I understand the difference lol STOH - since top overhaul (cylinders etc). SMOH - Major overhaul - they break open the bottom end, crankcase etc for rebuild if necessary How does the legal and inspection framework work in Canada for small private planes? (i.e. Cessna 172, 152 etc) if the engine is r...

" U.S. general aviation aircraft production had declined from 18,000 units in 1978 to only 928 units in 1994." http://digitalcommons.law.seattleu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1843&context=sulr wow what a decline!! here is a cool Cessna Ad from the glory days :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2...

Re: Owner Maintenance - Hot or Not?!

some interesting info - thanks guys! lower resale and tough to sell sounds like a real problem... I don't really see it as taking work and income away from an AME though.. If I buy a plane and bring it to my home airfield, and then occasionally ask the local AME to help me out, while doing a lot of ...

Re: Buying Plane in Canada and flying it home - steps? Contr

Thanks Bede! In my case I will be paying straight cash on the spot for any plane I buy so a Bill of sale will be my likely choice (although PM sent, I am curious to see this contract of sale :) good call on the independant AME inspection…. one seller was very enthusiastic about his AME telling me ab...

Cost to Paint a Small Cessna? vs…. Polished Aluminium :D

i'm shopping for a 'poor man's plane haha i.e. an old Cessna. Pretty much all the planes I have looked at have '6/10' scruffy paint that is oxidized, peeling, and just generally shabby What does a good Paint job run these days on a little Cessna (172 or 152)? ..and……. What about stripping paint and ...

Owner Maintenance - Hot or Not?!

I'm looking at older cessnas (172s & 152s) and I see a few that are in the "owner maintenance" non-certified category From my understanding one 'advantage' is you can obviously do your own maintanence per schedule, and sign your own annuals meaning lower costs in theory. Disadvantages include not be...

Re: Buying Plane in Canada and flying it home - steps? Contr

Buying Plane in Canada and flying it home - steps? Contract?

greetings! I've decided that I want to do my PPL on my own plane!! I will likely buy a Cessna 172 in Canada (ontario or quebec) somewhere. I have already googled and searched forum and didn't see a step by step of how it works. What kind of contract do we sign ? (can it be a normal bill of sale with...
