Re: A310 - TransAtlantic Flights
Ill be the pilot of your flight on the 12th on the 330. Come up and say hi during boarding or after we land in MAN if you'd like. Transat has good crews and a safe record, you're in good hands!

Re: Air Transat Phone Interview
Dont worry too much about the "phone interview", it's just a few basic questions and then they elaborate on the job (youll be told to expect YYZ base, aircraft types, pay, etc). The in-person interview is very basic too, done in YUL, along with the sim eval on the 310 and medical. Usually you'll do ...

They do, and guys are getting upgraded. We have a "temporary captain" position where you'll fly seasonally as a captain when needed during the peak months.monkey wrote:Transat doesn't have FO's that they could seasonally upgrade?

I don't have any info or rumours about potential hiring. All I know is that they're doing interviews in mid July.baron79 wrote:Any ideas on when the next course is planned?

Re: Air Transat Interview
Yes, they've hired quite a few guys below the 4000tt. If you have a good connection or jet time, your total time isn't all that important, assuming you do well in the interview and sim eval.

Bringing in a union is not going to drastically change the culture at WJ. That's just fear mongering.

Re: Worth the move?
Isn't OT topped out at 2 days per month? At that payscale, it's still not easy to make a liveable wage in YYZ or YYC, even if you did your 2 days OT per month. If you're dying to get out of the north & 704 flying, and you can stomach the horrid payscale for 5 years, then go to jazz. The schedule and...

Re: Asia getting desperate!
This nothing new. Korean has been offering this for a while methinks. One of my buddies applied (time on 330), but Korean contacted him and told him they wanted a University degree. This was 3 years ago or so, so Im not sure if that "requirement" is still in place.

When I started in Jazz in '08, the pay was around $37000. Starting pay at AC was around $39000 up until a few years ago.

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
AC hired a lot of Jazz guys over the last few years of their hiring cycle. It didn't matter what their seniority was, AC hired whomever they wanted. The problem I see with this flow is that the newhires and junior guys may not even be able to apply for an "off-the-street" position because the flow w...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
If the very first offer that came along included a flow, then Im sure there's room for improvement with more negotiating which would still include the flow.

Re: Air Transat hiring..
Yeah it's ok when Transat does it but there are numerous post from your hero Gilles slamming SW for doing the same thing. Actually, Gilles and others slam SW for using foreign pilots, NOT for preferring guys with a certain experience or qualification level. It's absurd to think that Gilles is attac...

Re: Air Transat hiring..
I dont understand why people always get their panties in a twist when companies list their ideal qualifications in finding a candidate. In a perfect world, Transat would be able to choose from a wide selection of candidates with 4000+hrs, TR, bilingual, etc. But realistically, they know they won't b...

In the last few rounds of hiring recently there were several people without a TR and who were not bilingual.

Your type is assigned before you even show up, your seniority number is assigned a week or two after you start.

Re: Air Transat hiring
There was a class which started yesterday. 8 people, 6 people on the A310/B737, 2 people on the A330/B737. Don't know how much more hiring there will be, but there will likely be a course per month for the next few months I imagine. Initially they said 30-40 new hires total. So far there have been 16.
