Re: Quality of Multi-IFR Training

No, I don’t believe spending the extra money will get you any farther ahead. Save the cash. No one cares where the ticket came from as long as you have it. Multi conversion, as others have said, is 7-10 hours. It really isn’t difficult or long. Very dedicated and proficient guys can get it in 4-5 ho...

Re: Cornwall aviation or elsewhere?

For a group 3 to 1 upgrade, you can self-recommend. The multi training will teach you the engine failure drill and subsequent flying characteristics, then you can just do a practice flight or two with the IFR approaches and you should be good to go. Upgrade is just done at the field itself shooting ...

Most, if not all, of that information is available publicly via their collective bargaining agreement. http://negotech.labour.gc.ca/eng/agreements/09/0980407a.pdf I have heard they are busy and you can expect to fly anywhere from 50-80 hours in the two week period. There is a store where you can buy...

Transport Canada Wants Our Feedback

TC has set up a site to receive feedback and suggestions as to how the CARs could be modernized. I know many pilots have major issue with the current duty time regs, so here is our chance to speak up! Please pass the word to all those you know in the aviation industry. Perhaps our feedback (and sign...

Does he remember the registration of the aircraft he flew in? If so, try and contact the latest owner and have them check the journey logs for that period. Hopefully his name and the instructors will show up. Get copies.

Re: French aspiring pilot about to cross the Atlantic

Hello everybody, Thanks for you answer. I'm planning to come with a student visa, and do my training in an aeroclub (probably Cornwall Aviation, Ontario). And I will ask for a student permit, which allows me to work 20 hours a week. So, doing a "modular" training, will I be able to work these 20 ho...

Re: New apprentice tool questions

OP, that Canadian tire set you posted shows a regular price of $750 (at least for me). That same set regularly goes on sale for $200. It was last on sale a couple weeks before Christmas - I considered picking it up. Me personally, I'd start with a Canadian tire set like you posted. The Maximum serie...

Re: Flight Test

If you are talking about the Transport Canada written test, the latitude & longitude coordinates are given with each place. That is how you are supposed to find them. The entire purpose is to give locations that you likely aren't familiar with in order to test you. The first challenge is finding the...

Re: flight simming during PPL studying/training

I played with Microsoft Flight Simulator X while doing PPL. I even bought a yoke with throttle quadrant and the rudder pedals. I would hook my computer up to my TV to have a larger screen. It was fun to mess around in the sim. I treated it as a game, but it can definitely be beneficial. I would ofte...

Business Aircraft Registration

Hi, I have several questions regarding business aircraft registration. I'm curious to how exactly the planes are registered, and under what operating procedures do they fall under. For an example, say an oil company purchases (and registers it under the company name) a Navajo to occasionally fly emp...

Ah I see. I know which plane you are talking about now. Don't know anything specifically about it but I do recall it being posted back then too. Didn't realize an ownership change had occurred in the meantime. Could be hiding something, perhaps realized he doesn't like it, ran out of money etc. If y...

Re: Buying airplane in Quebec

Yes dealing with Quebec sellers is a different animal. Telling someone to never buy from Quebec, IMO, is a pretty dumb thing to say. a good plane is a good plane, regardless if it's in Quebec, bc, Ontario etc. Dishonest sellers are everywhere, not just Quebec. So for those who've already had a bad e...

Just print the payment receipt and carry it with you. I have made several last minute trips where I have ordered the decal, but not received it. When the customs officials ask about the decal I say I ordered, paid for one and ask would they like to see the receipt - I have never been asked to actua...

Re: AME cracked cylinder while removing exhaust - liability?

Mick, I would not consider this being "cheap". Would consider this being thorough. I am new to the aviation game and simply trying to learn the rules. Why would I pay for the potential negligence of somebody else? Would you? Most likely not - nobody would. Whether they are at fault or not, I cannot ...

Re: AME cracked cylinder while removing exhaust - liability?

Hey all, I am back after a nice vacation... Unfortunately, I have still not yet seen or spoken to the AME in person. I left March 1st for a 4 week vacation. I am hoping tomorrow I will be able to meet and discuss the above mentioned events with the AME's. I have yet to see the final bill and work or...
