Re: Does aircraft weather radar detect traffic?

The radar in the 737NG reliably displays primary aircraft returns to 30 miles, less reliably beyond. With it bit of practice, it works well enough to be useful as a tool, particularly when tracking aircraft above or below our TCAS differential ceiling (+/-2800 ft) or keeping an eye out for non-trans...

Re: Flooding YYC.

It's quite simple really, warming air holds more water vapour. So more precipitation as snow and rain. I wouldn't be surprized if Calgary floods again. Better to rebuild on high ground than repairing the damage. I wouldn't be surprised if it floods again either. It has happened before. Here's a lis...

Re: Flooding YYC.

We'll save the climate change hysteria for the next time if the "100 year flood" starts to happen more than every 100 years. from Wikipedia: A common misunderstanding exists that a 100-year flood is likely to occur only once in a 100-year period. In fact, there is approximately a 63.4% chance of on...

Re: US Airways A330 Great Landing

Certainly a smooth landing from a passenger perspective. From a pilot's perspective, smooth doesn't count if you touch down on the 2500 ft marker. 1000 ft is the target. Every time.

Please, by all means, enjoy the flight. I don't think I need to tell you to 'sit back' though.

Re: Russian TU-204 (similar B757) over run onto Moscow highw

Notice the common denominator? A second landing attempt. Внуково has two 10,000 ft runways, which is 5 times the normal landing distance. Are you suggesting that landing should be attempted by normal skill-level pilots in optimal non-emergency conditions with this aircraft at any number below its 1...

Re: 3 Take off's at Heathrow

Sorry, but I don't understand why you post this video? We don't see any take off, just a plane passing above trees. The filming is bad, the exposure is bad, and we barely see the aircraft type! Some folks post their own videos in an effort to promote traffic to their own youtube channel. More views...

We deadhead with you guys a lot and according to the Globe and Mail the seat pitch in the rest of the cabin is being reduced with more seats added to the -800. If this is true losing leg room will make it painful when the person in front reclines his seat all the way back. Standard pitch now is 32"...
