Re: Air Canada / Rouge

No other pilot group at any other Major National carrier in the world is allowing their Seniority system to be eroded as fast, or allow their unity to crumble as quickly and effectively as the Air Canada pilot group. Pilot unity and its Seniority system at Air Canada is now a complete train wreck. M...

Re: Air Canada / Rouge

Are the AC pilots going to approve expanding the Rouge fleet beyond the current limits? If the latest Cargo Let extension is any indication, absolutely......and Mainline will cease to exist within a decade. 50% of our apathetic pilot group didn't even bother to vote on this critical Cargo issue. Ov...

Re: WestJet Future Fleet Plans

Am I reading the table right? It shows a net increase of -zero- 737's over the next five years. Five years being a reasonable projection timeframe in this industry. Reading into that, pilot advancement at Mainline will be via attrition only. How many retirements are upcoming over the next 5 years? P...

I personally know at least a dozen I've flown with who were PFO'd at one point or another.

So, absolutely re-apply.

Cheers, DP.

Re: Chilliwack coffe Shop Close Feb 26,2017

Just curious, but who is "Judy" mentioned in the Global TV report?? I've always been under the impression that Barb Mitchell and family started the "Chilliwack Pie" sensation. I remember many conversations with her over pie in the old "pre-1986 facility" and flying my Navajo in many times in the ear...

Re: Canadian Govt buys 18 Super Hornets

Why can't we all just accept that "flavour of the year" politics will always play a stronger role in the makeup of our military capability than any form of common sense.

Once we accept that, we can all just move along on this topic.

Nothing to see here anyway.

Re: Air Canada Pool

Nice post FPOKA. I wonder how the WJ faithful would respond. Isn't one of the definitions of "faith" belief without reason? I digress. One reason to chose AC is the huge number of "bidding silos" meaning the each aircraft type (EMJ, 320,767,787,330,777) and position (CA, FO, RP) and base (YUL, YYZ,...

Re: Air Canada Pool

Agree. Chasing metal has ended very poorly on many occasions. A certain set of twins comes to mind. Find out which company has they type of flying you wish to do, then do everything you can to get there, and stay put. Personally I don't think anyone could go wrong with AC. Huge variety in fleet type...

Re: Air Canada Pool

I've been on the 37 at WJ for 5 years. I would imagine that AC will see applications from us in the 100's. Myself included. FPOKA You guys and gals will be welcome. Always good relations with WJ folks in the domestic terminals and overseas. That said 737-Max, and especially C-Series Skipper jobs wi...

Re: Air Canada Pool

yes...there is a training problem......or there will be one shortly. I'm sure solutions are being considered in the "reopener"...... however, it doesn't change the fact that guys start retiring soon, and matters are only going to get worse. Currently guys are being "held in position" until a trainin...

Re: Air Canada Pool

Closes today...the 14th. According to the "interim bid" I cannot believe how junior former "senior" positions will go. Four years to 320 Skipper (think an early PML list guy could hold it already.....if not real close), two years to EMJ Skip............between the Rouge ops and Mainline we have abou...

Re: Air Canada Pool

I do have a question , just as an observer to this conversation. Why would AC reject applicants from JAZZ( I assume that's what PFO means), one would think guys/gals at JAZZ certainly have the qualifications and experience. They fly many of the same routes/WX/airports as AC domestic and certainly h...

Re: I heard there were direct entry ERJ Captains?

When ACPA divided its house over the FP60 issue, I recall that was OK with you; but today “it’s really sad to watch our slide” because “as a democracy, some of us are just along for the ride”. The thing about hypocrisy Duke, is that you can’t have it both ways. If you're prepared to screw your fell...

Re: I heard there were direct entry ERJ Captains?

I believe there's a real push to enact Status Pay in 2017.......watch for it. It will solve the training nightmare that's just around the corner. Rouge must be included type for type, at least for pay purposes, if they want any serious expansion approved, but I'm not holding my breath. My bet is tha...

Re: New Hire Equipment

Most new hires start off in YYZ. Within 6-8 months, they're re assigned to the base of their choice as of late. Seems Vancouver 320 FO is a 6 month wait. Montreal about the same. Even new hires holding Winnipeg right seat Airbus. If you're assigned to the Burrito, YYZ is almost the only choice.....s...

Re: Air Canada Pool

How is this little "spat" helpful to those in the pool???? Having a degree will help you get a job with Air Canada. Don't like it, or don't agree........too bad. There are plenty of people out there with University education looking for employment in aviation. Those individuals who had the foresight...

Re: WJ vs. AC......performance

Mostly just tired of Realitychex.......his/her argument did nothing to explain why Air Canada still exists today......and in it's current form. I think he has explained that tirelessly. A low interest rate environment combined with cheap fuel is funding an irrational expansion. Why is it irrational...
