Re: "career flight instructor"

I can agree with waterdog and rookiepilot. I was in my late 40's while training for a life long goal. Not much customer service going on at my school. If I wasn't so gung ho, i think i never would have stuck with it to completion. Instructors came and went, they seemed to be in it for the flight hou...

Re: ANR Conversion Kit - reviews?

One thing that I did to my DC 13.4's was to swap out the ear cavity foam to thicker denser foam; it made them noticeably quieter. I had some memory foam from a mattress that worked excellently. Well worth the free upgrade. And If it wouldn't have worked I had the old foam to put back

Ah. All these problems will go away when they privatize all the airports. Just like Little t and his crew of feel good cronies are proposing.

Tongue in cheek. Yes but does anyone think that this situation will get better?

Re: What is the deal with all the French on the radio?

My personal favorite this week was asking for an airport advisory in English and getting it in french.....I had to have my head on swivel every time I landed uncontrolled going through Quebec this week. It would have been greatly appreciated if people used English when there is an English pilot in ...

Re: What is the deal with all the French on the radio?

Yes it was an uncontrolled airport. He announced he was on final I think, but I never understood. I am a low time pilot and will continue to make mistakes, but this one is the biggest I have made so far. Feeling like a moron too. I have spoken to many a pilot on the atf to find out intentions and lo...

Re: New Pilot owns plane looking for suggestions.

A bump to this post. I have had the experiece to fly to Quebec in July and Ontario just this week. I flew CYFC-CZHU over maine. Yes they do have some big hills! And like NB not much besides trees and lakes. My next trip was CYFC- CZBM. Both with clear skies but low clouds to shake me up over Maine. ...

Re: Seeking Advice on Diagnosing Oil Consumption

I have a C172 with an O300. I was told if it don't leak that means it's out of oil. I recently went on the hunt for my leaks. Did the cowl removal and clean up routine. I found I had a magneto that was leaking oil. We removed it had it repaired then put it back on and most of my leak stains went awa...

Re: What is the deal with all the French on the radio?

John Thanks for that. But would you continue in french knowing someone is speaking english who obviously is English? Court case or not it's unsafe and stupid just to have "language rights". As my dear old mom used to say " there is right, them there is dead right" he obviously spoke english but chose...

What is the deal with all the French on the radio?

Not sure where to post this but I have a question about radio procedure in Quebec. While traveling to and from Ontario this week , i flew into a few smaller airfields in the eastern townships for the first time. All radio transmissions by planes in the circuit and on the ramp were in french. I annou...

Re: Westjet cabin incident, good thing it wasn't United or AC

Maybe the solution would be surveillance cameras running on all flights. It would make pax and Crew behave. It would clear the he said she said. And we all could edit the parts we want to support our point.

Wouldn't that be great?

Good tip. I have a 0300D powered 172. I use carb heat at reduction of throttle before my base turn and push it in before I flare in case I need to do a go around. My CFI made this an evolution to do every time before landing. Never had any Carb ice this winter but I expect I will see some this spring
