You also need to make sure there is an examiner available who is willing to do a flight test on an experimental. Not everybody will be comfortable with that.

Re: Group 1 IR 6/6/6 Currency
The excerpt below from the CARs should apply to your situation. I think the key part is the “ the same category as the aircraft”. If you need Group 1 currency your 6 and 6 need to be in a multi. CAR 401.05(3.1) No holder of a Canadian pilot licence endorsed with an instrument rating or to which is a...

Re: How should I finish my PPL rating?
Go with option one. Even if you end up doing the written exam but can’t finish the flying you would be ahead. The written exam is valid for 24 months. Good motivation to get the flight test done within that time.

They may offer it but they have somewhat limited capacity due to lack of class 1 instructors. Did you call around and ask?

+1 for North Shore’s comments.
I use a QSet headset. Noise cancelling and Bluetooth significantly cheaper than the big brand names.
Very light weight and comfortable, great customer service.

Re: Demand for flight instructors
An instructor has to be class 2 or 1 in order to supervise a class 4.
We are definitely seeing the class 2s and 1s being hired away from instructing. Some upgrades to class 2, very few make it to class 1 before leaving. This is going to impact ability to train new class 4s.

Re: Own vs Rent Break Even?
Owning a plane will rarely make sense financially, you have to fly a lot to get anywhere near break even in terms of cost. Add dealing with maintenance, insurance, hangar or tie down rental, etc it all takes time. Owning will give you better access to a plane on your schedule, short notice, staying ...

Lynx Air
It’s been over a month since Lynx first posted for pilots. Has there been any callbacks, interviews, hiring?
Does anyone know when they plan to start operating? Or are they doing like Canada Jetlines, starting with wet leases?

I agree with @jamesel’s comments. When it comes to comfort I’d say RVs are clear winners. So if lots of longer cross country flights are your mission you’ll likely prefer the RV14.

It may not be quite that easy, but it would be a starting point. If TC is helpful and willing to provide guidance - great. If not, or as a complement, look for other avenues.

Re: Complete fwf change
For a major modification you will likely need to submit initial documentation to TC. Once work is completed the aircraft will need to go back to flight testing for however many hours TC requires, final documents/flight test reports submitted to TC and eventually new CofA issued. I would recommend ge...
