Re: Negotiations
It’s probably because of the pandemic that porter does have cash floating around. Instead of burning millions per day like Ac and jazz they just shut down operations, got a wicked deal on ultra efficient airplanes and saw market share to grab. Deluce family are aviation geniuses, don’t discount the...

Re: Negotiations
Other carriers are starting to feel the heat now too. CA quitting carriers like Morningstar and Flair and Cargojet to go to Porter. Pilots will gravitate to the $$. It is a sellers market (except perhaps for AC). Anybody operating under the Express banner trying to sustain non-market rates will fin...

Re: Negotiations
I'd like to know where PAL thinks they're getting the pilots to do this extra flying. They've never been known for their WAWCON. I know Jazz had to cover a few of their flights recently so I'm extremely skeptical of this idea.

Re: Negotiations
Wonderful response. Thanks so much for breaking that down for me, I really appreciate it. After 18 months of self inflicted pain AC has finally decided to make an offer which the Jazz pilots are currently entertaining. Just a followup question. Why do you mention Air Canada making a deal with the J...

Re: Negotiations
Good day folks, I work for Jazz but I'm not a pilot (more maintenance side of things). I've been following this thread but I must say I'm really in the dark as to what's going on with you guys and I had a few questions. Maybe you could enlighten me if you could find the time? It seems that there is ...

Re: Rumor about %30 pay increase
Normal pay after tax and every deduction (I have family insurance so it's more expensive), is 1000$ per two weeks (40 credits). First year F/O YUL based. Actually pretty simple, about 44% of the salary are deductions for me (tax and benefits). My guess, captains would be close to 60% in deductions ...

Re: Jazz Interview Technical Questions
Are you a Pilot? Maintenance? Dispatcher? Groomer? Flight attendant? Rampie? Sanitation? Millwright? Human resources? By the pure ignorance of your question, I think I know the answer already.
Gonna need some more info.

Don't sweat it... I've worked for damn near every major operator in the business and it's never been an issue. I'm a licensed AME-E......I fail both the Ishihara and the Farnsworth every time guaranteed. Air Canada's medical was the best one........she asked me if I had a color vision problem to whi...

Re: To all Experianced AME
E license is for avionics. You can only do a maintenance release on anything related to electronic and electricity. Computers or any electric side of any component. M License is every aspect of a aircraft. Engine, airframe, electricity. M license can sign the same thing than a E license but an E li...

This topic comes up almost as much as the 12pt vs. 6 pt socket threads.......or the crimp vs. solder threads. There is a load of misinformation being posted here (as usual). I have an M2/E, see my posts on this thread:

Cheapest, most convenient for you, and quickest term........that's my recommendation. Most importantly, cheapest. Don't go into debt for this racket. The schools all just about the same in the end.

Re: Fleet growth 5 new Qs, 5 new 705 within the next two ye
I was shocked while at sim training one year. My sim partner had >4000hrs and had been applying for a DEC at a notable US jet operating regional carrier. He was desperate for that job! What did it pay? $41,000/yr! Why do we want to work towards this, instead of away from it and then justify it? Bec...

Re: Union drives
So....if I understand you correctly.....Say, for example, hired as a Flight Attendant in 1986 and hired as a Pilot in 1990.....seniority date in the pilot union is 1990?

Union drives
All of these recent union drives at Westjet, etc got me thinking about a couple things. Maybe someone could shed some light on this for me..... How do they decide seniority once they actually become organized? I guess it does not apply to pilots but many people started off in different positions wit...
