Re: Background Check Time

Hello! Curious if anyone else has gone through a background check recently and experienced long wait times. It's been a few weeks and I don't have a record, possibly just staffing delays from covid? Nav uses a company called MINTZ, they don't state specific times especially since it depends on how ...

Life/Housing in Yellowknife/Whitehorse

Looking for some information from those in the know (either from company knowledge or personal experience)….But aside from the obvious downsides of moving up north, is the exhorbinent housing prices. I am mostly looking to see if anyone knows if NavCanada has company housing available up there (and ...

Re: Random Applicant Question

Based on the guys at Nav I have talked to, the majority of candidates are not 18/19, but most are in their 20's somewhere with a few in their 30's. I think the only barrier with age is the lessons and habits it teaches you over the years, but that is just conjecture. I am waiting to start in the VFR...

Re: YEG VFR Offer

Just switched my application to the YEG region (due to personal reasons). Waiting for an interview, so I'm really hoping I didn't miss the mark on this round of people getting e-mails for one. Pretty sure my application expires in Feb/Mar, would really be unfortunate to have to restart without know...

Re: Any updates on training?

yeah I see that they posted the hiring ad again, that is exciting! I submitted my application last March and it still in 'review'. Does anyone know if I should just leave my application or should I withdrawal it and reapply? I may be wrong but I think that even if you were to withdraw, you would st...

Re: YEG VFR Offer

Well, after 2 years it looks like VFR is kicking off in YEG again. Offers for VFR are being made. I had IFR as first preference but am curious for those in the know what are the general odds of placement, ease of transfer (say 5 years in?) and pay differences of the towers in AB, Whitehorse, and Ye...

Re: YEG VFR Offer

They didn't bid out to go to the bigger towers at YEG or YYC? or just no openings? I shutter at the thought of 10 years in yellowknife, but it is what I am signing up for (just hope it doesn't come to that)

Re: Any updates on training?

I remember the excitement of receiving my VFR offer years ago. Get ready for one or two of the busi...

Re: Question about online application and test

Been a while since I applied, but it was pretty quick if I recall. This past time though I actually had to email and ask for my link as some sort of IT glitch resulted in it not coming through.... That said that was pre-covid and there is a chance they are not proceeding with applications yet, best ...

Re: Any updates on training?

Can confirm. Got a call for FSS in YEG which I politely declined. Here’s hoping! Just curious where you were in the application process. As I had received an offer and was about to start the IFR training in YEG a couple weeks before COVID shut everything down. Wonder if they are reaching out to peo...

Re: Any updates on training?

I was curious for those who are turning down FSS courses, are you hoping for VFR/IFR offers later down the line or reapplying from the start again? Yup, FSS is lower pay, and not as interesting to me, but most importantly it would require me to move my wife and 2 young kids to some pretty awful pla...

Re: Extension to applications??

I received an extension from 18 months to 24 months a few months ago.... I am sitting in the eligible for offer pool at the moment. Beyond frustrating all this craziness going on, hard enough to be patient during normal times let alone now.

Re: YEG Applications process

Any updates from anyone guys?! Nope, and likely won't for a while. The world is still in frenzy and it needs to start coming back to reality before air travel increases (which is needed to increase NavCan revenue and staffing needs). Last update was a few months ago when they told me my elig...
