Re: Is it worth it anymore? ( salaries ?)
If you want to be successful in this industry, you need to do more than sit at home and wait for a phone call. Hitting the road, making connections and networking is by far the best way to progress yourself in this job. Every job interview I've ever had was thanks to a connection.

Re: Is it worth it anymore? ( salaries ?)
That's what I'm trying to say. The OP wondered if it's worth it. I'm trying to say yes it is because things are moving a lot faster than they used to. I in no way feel entitled to this job, when I started I fully expected it to take 5-10 years to get to a regional. I can't complain though that thing...

Re: Is it worth it anymore? ( salaries ?)
Three years of busting my ass from the end of flight school to 705 Captain, and with that decent pay and OK lifestyle which will only get better. Certainly more than any of my peers in other fields who have years more education than I do. They also work a lot more. It's not 2004 anymore. If your goa...

Re: Talk of strike/walkout?
Lol no tail between my legs here! I've been very busy working on my WingNut Airspeed Indicator system. After the testing in California two weeks ago I'm confident of the model so now I'm working on the display aspect. The LED strips were okay, but the next step is to get the HUD working. So far, I ...

Re: Why would anyone want to go to Swoop?
Well, after all of the deductions & taxes on the esp, etc a 10 year Captain takes home about $2000 per pay cheque at WestJet and their hourly rate is close to double that of Swoop. The “financial perks” are also double. The saying at WJ is T4 rich and Cash poor. Not sure what it would work out to a...

Re: Porter airlines "conducting interviews prior to 1000 hours?"
Just about every 705 regional is hiring under 1000 now including Encore.
Not %100 sure with Porter but if they are following current trends I'd imagine so.
Apply and find out.
Good luck.

Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
.....aaaaaand here we go. Welcome to AvCanada, everyone! What a bunch of losers. Imagine feeling like you have to defend your decision to WEAR A WATCH. Next thing you know you'll have to defend your reasons for buying a house. You know, because renting is just fine, why would anyone spend their har...

Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
I never said I work for AC, I think I've been pretty open with working at Jazz on this forum. But as long as I wear the same uniform I'll treat it with respect. Additionally, you don't know me. You have no idea what I did before I was a pilot nor what my current financial standing is. If I want to o...

Re: Westjet Link delayed
Curious, with all the talk and hostility towards SWOOP, none towards Link? Isn't there a clause in the current WJ.contract that says all flying under the westjet name including affiliates and subsidiaries is to be done by westjet pilots?

Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
I feel the same way about the audi and BMW drivers. I don't have them either and don't feel the need. Yes, I look down a bit on those that feel the need to showboat expensive shit just for the sake of it. Same way I have I have built in dislike for guys who think gold chains. Its like they all have...

Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
So because I like a nice watch I can't have an ATV, boat, dirt bike or a slew of guns? Well, I have/had all of those.... I also used to ride horses, race cars and ride motorcycles. I guess I'm just a snob though with my Audi and nice watch. You know what else I do? I tailor my uniform above and beyo...

Re: What kind of watch do you wear?
There's sure is a lot of condescending posts in this thread.. who cares if someone likes to own and wear a nice watch? What's it to you? Nothing wrong with a casio, gshock, timex etc. I own a few. But I also own nicer watches purely because I feel like it. One could say why buy an Audi or BMW? A 90'...

Re: Commuting YYJ to YVR
The last thing we own at Jazz is our jump seat. So you'll always have priority over mainline employee regardless of what an agent might tell you. However, there are a number of Jazz employees that commute from YYJ, and there is only one JS. So if the plane is full and there is a sr employee also com...
