Re: how long did it take for your medical approval?

Yeah, i believe the FSS medical process may be different. on my forms it specifically said, in big, capitol letters "THIS IS NOT A TRANSPORT CANADA MEDICAL".

either way, the report must've come through because my takecharge page has been updated and shows they've received my medical, so, all good.

Re: how long did it take for your medical approval?

I had it done through the CAME, who sent the report to a company called Oncidium. It was my understanding that Oncidium was going to do some kind of report and give it to NavCanada. The doctor said I was fine, but I want to make sure the right report gets to the right people, since my training offer...

how long did it take for your medical approval?

Just wondering how long it can take for the initial fss medical to be approved? I did my medical & other appointments about 7 weeks ago. Haven't heard anything from Navcanada yet. I'm probably going to contact them this week to make sure there's no issues, but just wondering if that's normal? Seems ...

Re: FSS Course (YQM) - What to expect?

Thanks for the info, fanman. I'm pretty sure this FSS course isn't going to have a weeks review of the ITA before the exam. HR had told me the testing date would be the first or second day of class. Also I've heard the FSS exam is pretty different than the IFR/VFR exams (you're IFR, right?), but mos...

FSS Course (YQM) - What to expect?

Hey everyone, Just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect from the FSS course? I start in September in Moncton. I'd love to hear about peoples experiences, coping mechanism, study schedules, pretty much any information is valuable to me. I'd specifically like to know what to expect on the ...

Re: W-Sim Prep.

Hi RWC

Not aware of any additional resources for the W-Sim, but just redo the worksheet a few times before your testing session. The W-Sim is actually a pretty easy component of the testing, if you can do all the prep questions and understand how to get those answers, you'll do fine.

Good luck.

Re: FSS First Postings - Dog / Pet Friendly?

In most jurisdictions, its illegal to discriminate against someone for their choice in pet ownership. Good to know. Unfortunately, I do not currently live in one of those jurisdictions, and finding dog friendly accommodation in my current city can be a challenge. I was a little worried that problem...

Thanks for sharing, Jonathan. I think it's going to be okay but wanted to see if anyone else had been in a similar position.

FSS First Postings - Dog / Pet Friendly?

Just got a training seat for FSS. I know some of the postings are in rural areas, with limited housing options, and sometimes housing supplied by NavCanada. Does anyone know if it's likely or possible to be sent somewhere and not able to have a pet in your accommodation? I have a dog (she's good in ...

Re: Moncton training calls?

That's awesome. Congratulations & best of luck with everything.

After deliberation, I opted to decline my offer for a variety of reasons not worth going into.

Joanne told me that the next course for FSS in the Moncton region will be in the fall.

Re: Moncton training calls?

I applied through the Moncton FIR, and received a call this week offering a FSS course with training in Vancouver, starting in May.

Best of luck to you, TGSky. Be prepared for potentially needing to switch regions for training, which I hadn't expected.
