Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I am one of those decently paid 705 captains that recently took the leap to AC. It was an incredibly difficult decision for every reason you guys have been discussing above. I will preface all of this by saying that flat pay is an abomination and needs to go, a decade ago. When I did the math though...

Re: Feels like impossible to find an entry level pilot job...
I hire entry level pilots. This advice is purely my opinion and I’m sure others will disagree, but here is what I look for in a newbie: - If your resume is 5 pages long, I’m likely not reading past the first page. Please keep the cover letter to one page, and the resume to one page. - Please lay off...

Re: Captains of the North, what makes you stay?
You get to a point where you’d have to take a huge pay cut and schedule hit to move to the “majors”. It’s affordable to buy houses and all the snowmobiles and boats and whatever to enjoy the outdoors up here. Makes it harder and harder to leave, so unless you have shiny jet syndrome you just settle ...

People go their entire careers doing everything in their power trying *not* to bend an airplane, and this idiot goes out and does it for attention. Disgusting.

Re: Wasaya FO Rotational?
If you’re YQT or YXL based you’re expected to get yourself to your base for your shift. You can utilize the Sched or bearskin-perimeter to get there. If you live farther away, there are jumpseat agreements with AC, WJ, Porter, Transat… All pilots have access to these travel benefits, not just those ...

1900 FO’s are non-rotational. 1900 captains are though.

Re: Question about Transport Canada recordkeeping
I had heard from an examiner that they track the FTU’s and examiners to make sure the pass / fail ratio is within norms. I don’t know that they can filter pilots who attended a specific FTU who went on to achieve an ATPL. Won’t know till you ask! I don’t know if any one is even in the TC offices rig...

Re: Airplane stuck in the states
Um... I'm pretty sure that the quarantine exemption applies only to crew actually flying for an airline ; [/quote] I wasn’t sure, which is why I called and checked before I completed this exact task for a client. I was providing a service, contracted by the aircraft owner. Therefore flight crew, an...

Re: Airplane stuck in the states
If you don’t want to quarantine for two weeks when you come back find a furloughed commercial pilot you trust, and send them down there to grab it. Commercial pilots, truckers, and marine crew are exempt from the quarantine rules.

New contract that just got ratified at Wasaya has rotation for all captain positions at all bases except for Dash in YQT. FO’s on the dash and hawker in YPL also have rotation. Free company travel within the Wasaya network. Jump seat agreements with AC, WJ, Porter, Bearskin, Perimeter, and a bunch m...

Re: Price/demand for free lance instructors.
I know in some areas where there's a few freelance instructors to choose from, the guys charge $35-50/ hour. I'm the only one within a couple hundred kilometres, so I charge $60, but that's what my free time is worth to me. I charge that rate for everything, but some instructors charge more for adva...

I’m making the same as their king air captains as a year one Navajo driver in NWO, and I know other companies around here paying more than mine. That’s pretty brutal.
