Re: Ouch! That Had To Hurt!

I dunno, that third landing looked pretty good!

Operated out of that airport for almost a decade. Flown a 441 in there in more than one occasion. No excuse for that.

FlightAware experts

This was sent to me this morning by a friend. I tried to look it up (no idea what time this was), but I'm no FlightAware pro. Anybody have any ideas? Claims they were travelling way faster than jets...

Re: What was the most fun job you had flying

As with lots of folks here, it was a mix. Maybe it was the mix?! Morning floatplane charter into some remote alpine lake (Evans Lake in the Valhallas is spectacular- look it up!), afternoon fire patrol in the 337 ripping along at low altitude, cranking and banking putting together an Initial Fire Re...

C182 control yokes

Can later model C182 control yokes be installed into an earlier model aircraft? Any particular paperwork requirements?

Thx

http://www.faraim.org/aim/aim-4-03-14-538.html (e) Atmospheric illusions. Rain on the windscreen can create the illusion of greater height, and atmospheric haze the illusion of being at a greater distance from the runway. The pilot who does not recognize these illusions will fly a lower approach. P...

Re: Any legitimate Pilot bars left?

F Street Station in Anchorage is the coolest pilot bar I've ever been in, hands down! If I had to guess I'd say 90% of the dudes in there were pilots, and 95% of the chicks were there for that reason!! 8)

Re: Pemberton Aerodrome

been a long time since I've been in there during the winter, but I do recall many years ago checking the CFS and NOTAMs which both gave the "limited winter maintenance" advisory, and once overhead I came to understand that meant "we don't plow the runways"! Fortunately Squamish had fuel! Things may ...

Re: Copilot wanted for regular Flights to Kelowna

Cyndy, if I were based in Calgary, I'd fly through the mountains with you in your gorgeous little "Rainbow" plane again anytime. For more information, Cyndy is a lovely person, eager to learn, and conscious of safety (as this request clearly demonstrates IMHO). She has far more to lose if things go ...

Re: C180 vs C182 on floats

Flown both, love my 182 on Edo 2870's. Pponk 470-50 engine has a 2000hr TBO. Only operational issue I've noticed is that the 182 with the slanted tail seems less willing to turn downwind at idle taxi. PM for more info.

Re: Bad dreams

Had both the rising terrain and the under wires dreams (under wires was always along some brightly lighted street, like Freemont!). Haven't had either in quite a few years, at lease since moving into the Flight Levels. Here's more weirdness: these are not the only common dreams we may be having. Ple...
