Re: One List

I've got no troops in this battle, but from what I gathered from my WestJet/Encore buds - and personal opinion - I tend to agree with Strato on this one. Anonymous person with second hand info on a public forum is telling me I’m wrong than it must be true. Oops my bad, I guess everything I’ve seen ...

Re: One List

Strato, I believe it’s safe to assume all mainline pilots do not care what you think about them, as you shouldn’t the opposite. This is only a job, family and friends should be you’re only real concern. Maybe if you realized this you wouldn’t be so angry. Secondly you’re anger is directed in wrong d...

Re: Corporate vs Airlines

Depends on the operator for corporate. There are some private operators in Canada that have some pretty outstanding situations. +1. There are some outstanding true flight departments out there. However, those jobs are very hard to come by and you would probably next at least 5X the experience you s...

Re: One List

I think the hardest thing, and a lot of the frustration, for Encore pilots at the moment is the uncertainty and zero direction from leadership. If things were just finalized (One list, flow, Onex) then it would be a lot easier to make the decision to stay or go. Unfortunately there is no time horiz...

Re: One List

Jazz has survived for years with no “one list”, and no “regional pilot incentive program”. Encore will survive too. I'm sure Encore will survive by hiring any scraps they can who can't get on at Jazz, AC, WJ, TS, SW and the likes. Ummmm yeah... that’s usually how it works. It’s regional flying.....

Re: One List

What are you so mad about? As far as I can see and have heard it’s been status quo for Encore flow overs. Even since the one list being voted down it’s as if the union doesn’t care about those results and are honouring it. All the employee numbers on the seniority list reflect this. Yeah I get you’r...

Re: 2020 Hiring

I suspect these numbers could fluctuate greatly in the next few months. Sure the Onex take over could lead to fairly rapid growth. However, depending on how several contract issues are handled (YOS implementation, Pension/ESP replacement) there could be a significant exodus of FO’s and junior captai...

Re: Flairs troubles......

Heard from one of their employees there’s been at least one instance of not being paid on time in recent months. Sounds like the beginning of the end... That would be untrue. Pay is never late. Rumors of flair's demise are greatly exaggerated. One of that employees roles is to oversee payroll, so w...

Re: One List

I understand why you must be frustrated that reverse-flow is not in the proposals. It makes sense that you want the security of being able to flow back in case the airline hits bumps and needs to lay off pilots. It's not wrong to think that way, but you should also think about the reality of the si...

Re: Westjet v. Jazz

There’s been many many that have left Jazz for Westjet and I’d be shocked if any went the other way. There’s a reason for that, in fact many have left Jazz for Transat, sunwing, westjet, cargojet, Morningstar and many more. If your true goal is AC, honestly Westjet would probably get you there fast...

[/quote] What happens when Encore pilots lose the flow? People stop applying. We lose the ability to operate and, by extension, the company that pays your salaries loses money. That being said, having 50% of mainline pilots vote against the people who are feeding passengers onto mainline flights jus...

Re: One List

I have been getting so much conflicting information that I wanted to ask those who actually voted down the one list. Why did you vote it down? What can we do at Encore to alleviate your concerns? How would you want it fixed? Well in regards to the “what can we at Encore do” question, nothing plain ...

Re: Future hiring

Ya I agree with yycjetdriver, selling a depreciating assest at a profit, then leasing back at favorable terms, is good business sense, especially when your trying to spread capital across multiple divisions of the company. It's quite common. It also reduces risks on the company books, allowing more...

We don’t even own our own 78s because of deplorable decision making.
Or maybe it was because of a little foresight. When the Onex deal closes why will it be an issue Westjet doesn’t own the 787’s? Are you aware of who does own the 87’s?

Re: Updates on one - list.

Again I’ll say I agree it should have been a yes vote the first time again so I don’t get angry responses. I just think it sets a bad precedent for the MEC to go out and go against a voted in result of its members, regardless what the results of the polling were. My understanding of the polling it ...

Re: Updates on one - list.

Why would an MEC, whose responsibility is to represent its members be able to do this without another vote. At the end of the day there was a vote among its members that resulted in a No and until that is rectified, I believe it would be a huge issue for them to go against the wishes of its members...

Re: Updates on one - list.

From ALPA to mainline pilots : This is the plan going forward: the MEC has approved the renegotiation of the transfer protocol for pilots between the WestJet Group of companies. The MEC has further decided to maintain the status quo by keeping Encore pilots' reserved positions on the WestJet Pilot ...

Re: Encore with under 1000 Hours?

If you have any time... go straight to mainline. Most captains at Encore basically have more hours than ALL the OTS COMBINED! Well one of the recent classes I heard they all had around 4000 hours with some up to 5000+. Let’s use an average on the low end for that group..say 3500 hours. Are you sayi...

Re: Getting a mortgage as a Pilot

Yeah that's the problem I'm coming up against. The annoying thing is that I certainly can afford the repayments, I'm paying more now in rent, it's just that to qualify they use a much higher rate than you actually get once you have the mortgage. Thanks for the info though. Unfortunately that’s the ...

Re: Getting a mortgage as a Pilot

So I'm trying to buy a house, the problem is my base pay is only in the mid $30's, but with per diems included it gets boosted up into the low $40's. The difference in the type of house I can get based on just the base pay or the base pay plus per diems is huge. I'm struggling to get a mortgage tho...

Captain Hourly Rates Step 1 - $103.57 Step 2 - $119.50 Step 3 - $131.46z That is horrible wage. I am 737 FO from Czech Republic, time to time flying here in cooperation between my company and Sunwing, so I am curious about wage scale here in Canada. To be honest I was looking for to stay in Canada ...
