and are satisfied with everything it encompasses ie; salary, benefits, rotations, shifts ect, I am pretty sure nobody is ever satisfied with EVERYTHING a job encompasses. Most AMEs I meet seem to be having some sort of fun doing their job. There is nothing wrong with the actual physical act of turn...

Re: Any reason why you are a AME or want to be one!
Helidoug, I sense a wee bit of bitterness in your posts today. A lot of us have had a good go in aviation. Not all of it is shift work and travelling to remote locations away from family. I have been working in aircraft maintenance and manufacturing for close to 20 years and I have never had to tra...

Re: Leaving aviation
I was just considering that again today! After being berated and constantly shit on by anyone with more "seniority" than me, being labeled "not a team player", working ridiculous hours at the last minute and then being told that after finishing at 0330 that I was lucky to get the following day off ...

Don't set the bar so low as "what your non-aviation friends" make. Aviation does have the potential to earn you far more money than any of your friends. But it takes more than a couple of years, exceptional adaptation skills, and a bit of luck. Oh yeah. And you have to leave Canada. which bur...

youll make more money on helis, even just as an ame with endorsements youll make more then a crew chief even on big jets. If your goal is money then go heli. if your goal is happiness, go back to school!

Re: Any reason why you are a AME or want to be one!
the only reason you would want to be an ame is if your intelligence was stunted, you had unrealistic expectations of what the job entails, are happy making less then what any other tradesmen make, had some demented fetish for aviation (akin to being one of those weridos who gets off on being humilia...

its a joke. I have one of the highest salaries for an ame i have ever heard of. fixed wing and heli. i have to travel my balls off from one shit hole to another, work weekends, evenings, holidays as required... there are clowns driving gravel trucks and half assed tradesmen making the same, if not m...

Re: Young Maintenance Graduate Looking for Advice.
just curious, what exactly is your draw to being an ame? what do you think it entails? \ does your dream include working nights, shift work / rotations in soul destroying places, living in crew houses? being underpaid, not only as compared to other trades, but as compared general laborers too!? does...
