Re: Why is the ramp still a thing that happens?
The industry has changed a lot, and I'll admit I'm out of touch with 703 or anything related to Canadian aviation these days really. Years ago it was either ramp or instruct. Instructors then had the task of getting multi time. My instructor told me to head north and get a ramp job so I did. Some Ca...

Re: Tipping your shuttle drivers
I used to tip 15% and then a friend of mine told me it's 20 now. What's 20% of a free shuttle bus ride? Tipping culture in America has gone mad. I was in a Starbucks and the guy in front of me gave them $10 for $5 coffee. It's not even table service for fucks sake. Maybe I've been living in England ...

For BC I would say AC (old contract). Then Jazz. Then Harbour Air. Then ... nobody, just be grateful you're living in BC. I don't see how North Caribou could be tops in AB for 2 reasons. #1: Alberta Central Airways, and #2: Isn't North Caribou a BC company? I seem to remember leaving a lot of resum...

Terrible news. His posts were always pragmatic, I got the feeling he was a well rounded guy. I had always hoped to hear him on the radio coming into GVA but pretty sure it never happened. I gather he was taken a while before his time. My thoughts go out to his wife. Life sure seems to slip through o...

Convert license to EASA. (14 exams)
Buy type rating, 737 or a320
Buy 500 hours of first officer time on said type.
Now someone might look at your cv, if not...
Declare bankruptcy, move back to Canada, get a ramp job.

I had a quick look in mine and found the word prohibited a couple times. Ground operations below -40c and deliberate stalling manoeuvres in icing conditions. Learn something everyday.

Re: Sonic Blue lawsuit against TC dismissed
Corporate decision making accepts certain risks for profit to stay competitive. When it is cheaper not to comply then to comply, people will take chances. The pilots take risks, making a compromise between life and livelihood, whereas managers and shareholders only have livelihood to worry about. On...

Re: Won't be long till it's fully entrenched here.
The thing that really irritates me is that these ads are listed as 'jobs'. I work in Europe, never bought a type rating. Our company has a respectable cadet program that puts out top notch pilots who otherwise probably would never had the ability to afford flight training. I'm talking about CPL, ME ...

bmc, you're right, according to wikipedia, Air Canada unloaded Aeroplan in 2008. Still, I'm not certain if the "use within one year or lose all your points" thing has always been that way, or if it was changed at some point. I know my points with oneworld are good for three years so I should probabl...

What a useless thread  And what a useless response, thank you for your contribution. If you are looking for something more meaningful, perhaps something by Carl Sagan would suit you. For the record, my main gripe is actually with the "loyalty" program Aeroplan. I had been a member of Aero...

Yeah, I knew it was pointless posting in here. As for having an Aeroplan number, you need to use it within 12 months in order for it to stay valid. So I gave them a bit of extra cash, oh well. I think I might have to leave this forum as well. Just idiots left on here. Do you feel better now that you...

not by choice. They give you an option to receive a discount rather than collecting Aeroplan points. But you have to be an Aeroplan member in order to opt out. In other words, I get a discount for allowing them to disclose my information to a marketing company. I wonder if they'll treat me to anothe...
