Re: Working at Air Canada if you don't drink
I don't drink alcohol for health reasons and was wondering if this would be a major hindrance in having a normal experience at Air Canada. I'm thinking about layovers where going for drinks with the Captain might be considered an unspoken rule. I have no problem saying no when offered alcohol but I...

Re: Leaving a good paying secure job for aviation
I had a well paying government job as well with excellent benefits. I always wanted to be a pilot. I stayed in this safe, secure and well paying government job not believing that I could successfully make this shift. I felt stuck and I was unhappy for the longest time. Even my co-workers told me I n...

Re: Bid 2019
I'm starting a job up north next month. What are the chances of me getting hired OTS to Jazz within the next 6 months-12 months provided I pass the interview and sim eval? I'm sitting at over 1000 hours and close to getting my ATPL signed off. I expect 500 multi-turbine 2 crew experience to add to t...

Re: Boeing Tumbles on Grand Jury Subpoena Probing 737 MAX Approval
I suspect it will take much longer than 10 days. AC is suspending Max flights until July 1st and has suspended acquisition of the other 6 it was due to receive. Sort of. AC has arranged for other aircraft to cover MAX flights until July 1st. That press release was to pacify future bookings confiden...

Boeing Tumbles on Grand Jury Subpoena Probing 737 MAX Approval
In the latest blow to both Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration, the WSJ reported overnight that Federal prosecutors and Department of Transportation officials are scrutinizing the development of Boeing 737 MAX jetliners and in particular its anti-stall (MCAS) system, inquiries described ...

Re: hiring factors (older entry level pilots)
Is the road to landing your first 703 job a lot harder if you are (say) over 40? I would expect considerations such as more frequent medical exams may play into decisions to pass on the older pilot but I'd like to know how big of an impact age has on starting a 2nd career in this industry? I believ...

Re: China's AT200 Cargo Drone Production Commenced
How long until we start losing pilot jobs to this kind of UAVs? Or how many more years of two-crew operations? I wonder how feasible it'd be to ''upgrade'' the current two-crew rated airplanes to fly single pilot. If we wanted to replace a pilot with a computer we could do it yesterday. Retrofittin...

Re: Is it realistic to be a PT flight instructor
Is it realistic to become a part-time flight instructor while working a regular 9-5 type job? I wouldn't be trying to move on to any other type of flying job, but am just interested in getting the rating and teaching in the early mornings, evenings, or weekends. Is anyone currently doing this or kn...
