Re: Jobs - Best Bush flying outside of Canada / Botswana, Africa

Anyone with more recent news on the situation over in Botswana?
How is the hiring going ect...?
From pprune it sounds like it's a lot more difficult to find a job without 500-800hours TT

- Ahmic
- Canadian North / First Air
- Keewatin Air (no management at YZF)

Yellowknife Operators list

Hi there, I think it would be very useful for job seekers to have a complete list of operators (land and floats) that are based in Yellowknife, both YZF and CEN9. That would make it easier not miss anyone when you go up there to look for employment. I’ll start with - Buffalo Airways - Air Tindi - Su...

Re: Floatplane training - Vancouver Area - 50hrs courses - Schools?

It's far from essential - because you aren't going to get hired anywhere on the West Coast with 50 hours of float time. And there's no such thing as going right seat on a Beaver or Otter, they're both single pilot aircraft... If you want to go and spend a bunch of money on float training, there's n...

Floatplane training - Vancouver Area - 50hrs courses - Schools?

Hi there, I am CPL student and I would like to target seaplane charter companies after completion of my training. In order to do so I'm thinking not only to get my seaplane rating but also to do some serious float time in order to be more employable by the end of my training. But I've got few questi...

Re: PPL "legal" minimum DUAL time

Bear in mind that these are minimums. Your objective is to be well trained, and a PPL should be a step along the way for that, rather than a final objective I certainly would expect so! These 17-28 hrs (dual-solo) have been used by a school to give me a quote for the PPL but it's rather unusual i t...

PPL "legal" minimum DUAL time

Hi guys, I have a question that comes from a quotation I received for a 45hrs PPL from a flight school. The quotation showed 17 hrs dual and 28 hrs solo. Now, all the other quotation I got where basically the other way around: 33 dual and 12 solo. What do you think about this? Is there a reason for ...

Re: PPL (on tailwheel) at Canadian Flight Centre

Hi everybody, I want to thank everybody for all the info and experiences you have shared. That really helps! The teaching of both three-points and wheel landings was one of the criteria I used to select the school and I asked in advance if they were teaching both. The boss of the school told me they...

PPL ground school KIT - how to buy from Europe??

Hi, I will be doing my PPL in Vancouver soon but I'd like to start studying beforehand so that I'll save time (and hopefully money as well) later. I am currently based in UK and it's not easy to find the books I need over here nether to find somebody willing to ship them over the Atlantic... Any ide...

Re: PPL (on tailwheel) at Canadian Flight Centre

The main criterion with which I selected the school to do my PPL has been to do my first 50 hours ( maybe more...) on an aircraft not as "forgiving" as a traditional tricycle plane (even if actually the traditional is the tailwheel...) in order to learn that set of skills you wouldn't really need on...

PPL (on tailwheel) at Canadian Flight Centre

Hello everybody, I'm new to the forum, just signed since I will be starting soon me PPL in Vancouver area. The flight school I chose is CFC at Boundary Bay, main reason behind this choice has been that they agreed on doing a PPL on a taildragger (if I'll be able...) Apparently it's not that common a...
