Re: WPPA visits ALPA
I'm confused why people think a union will make anything better? You won't get an answer to that, because there isn't one. And you're right, no one was forced to move to a new base. The entitled crowd that will try to tell you different. Mr North. I am very glad we did not hire you many years ago. ...

Re: WPPA visits ALPA
I'm not going to get into all of it on a public forum. However, approximately 100 days have passed since "the vote" and the only information put out by the current association is a survey on the golf tournament. Time to leave the grad council behind. I share this opinion with more than a few. Typic...

Re: WPPA visits ALPA
I sure hope he does. As a 15+ year "westjetter" I am tired of not having a more professional group representing the pilots. I've grown tired of the empty promises. I'm curious what those empty promises are, and how will ALPA fulfill them for you? I'm not going to get into all of it on a public foru...

GS..... "No plans to outsource work"
Just like there were no plans for bases. Three months later bases are announced. Sorry, no trust anymore.

Re: Union at West Jet
Hey guys and gals. I don't feel like I've been shit on at all. Everyone has their opinion. But if people at the company can't see the erosion of culture then I don't know what they are looking at. I'm not saying it's a bad place to work, not at all. But I have never seen moral so low, in the pilot d...

Hey 737, have you been at WS long? I have. And it's not all great right now. There are several issues that need addressed. I'm not going into them here. But if you don't see that, then you are blind.

You want support? Most would ask for it, not inconvience others trying to prove a point.

Re: Air Canada and their taxi speed
Pretty much the responses I was expecting. If it was only 2-3 minutes it would not be a big deal. Unfortunately it is longer than that. As for the "safety" aspect. The brakes must be applied several times to keep an aircraft taxing that slow. Just make sure you haven't overheated them prior to T/O.

Air Canada and their taxi speed
I know things are a little tense at AC, and some pilots are feeling slighted, but, could you please stop the nonesense of taxing at 8 knots in places like YVR and YYZ where you have almost 2 miles of straight taxiway. When you get a line of planes behind you it is time to pick up the pace. Thanks. N...

Re: Which rating is most difficult to get, and why?
Float rating. Five hour "course" when I got it from Dave H. up in Fort Langley. Took 3 tries before I actually landed on the river all alone. (was really scared) It was just enough time to kill myself. Fortunatly I got in with a company in Vancouver Harbour and got to fly around the coast with a who...

Re: New: dividends and share buyback
That pilot should not have been like that. Bad day maybe? I flew the -200 before the -700 and as posted above, big difference. Give me a -200 with those buckets over a -700 with sleeves on a crappy runway anyday.

Re: New: dividends and share buyback
I have never "bitched out" ATC. I just want the most up to date info. Not sure where the problem is with that. Sounds like you are able to work with old info. Good for you. You will never be blamed for being a burden to the system.

Re: New: dividends and share buyback
You are right about the loads. I have flown that route several times and only once we were full. However, your comment about runway conditons. I sure do expect to get a recent report. They know we are coming. Is that not what airport fees are for? It does not take too long to "get er done" BTW, what...

Re: Air Canada Got Good
Took the wife and two kids to L.A. from yvr a few months ago. From check in to touch down was great. In both directions. We left the gate early, baggage arrived fairly quickly and flight crew were great. It's nice to see. I just wish there was not so much us vs. them in this industry. Just a bunch o...

Re: Jumpseat Embargo by WestJet
Rumour is false..... It is status quo during the big "O". The jumpseat is open on our flights. There has been a call made to the ACPA guys to make sure this rumour is stopped. It has also been put out to our guys/gals to make sure nobody is denied.

What a great story, but I thought I had been your favourite Bob? Remember, all the weekends I used to cover the Beaver for you in Powell ? You probably don't even remember me, it hurts.
But you must be doing something right because I got into WestJet over 9 years ago. Who do you know????

Country Inn and Suites. About $80 and they give you breakfast. Travelodge has also come down in price, not sure what it is but not the cleanest place, or I am getting soft.

Re: Pilot Distribution
Commuting for almost 9 years. When I started at WS we had 12 planes and something like 4 flights a day from YYC to YVR. It sucked. Now, I believe we have 15 flights a day between the two cities (a couple go through YLW) and 16 with Air Canada. 31 chances to get to/from work. Not too bad. Anything is...

Re: vancouver port question
You don't "get" a YVR port. If you want to live in or around Vancouver that is great, you can sign up to be a "porter". You bid your schedule every month. If all you want is port flying put that as your number 1 choice. Most guys/gals that do this get 100% of their flying out of YVR. If days off are...
