Re: selection CQFA

Like it been said previously, SVFR = for controlled zone only.robshelle wrote:if you are flying SVFR on an airway, wouldn't you generally be below the minimum altitudes for the airway anyways?

Re: Procedure Turn Question
Then with some means of measuring distance back from the FAF, you could safely start your descent. Of course, if this is the case, ask the controlling agency for a straight in approach and remove the doubt. So if ATC clears you to do something, it means you have the right to do it? I'm not sure if ...

Of course, this is not a "10 NM safe altitude", that's why they specify the side of the PT.

Re: Procedure Turn Question
I was talking to TC about a VOR/DME approach where the VOR is the FAF. I asked the inspector if it was legal to do a straight in VOR approach and go down to the FAF altitude within the PT distance (10 NM) if "no pt" was not written on the chart (controlled airspace, non-radar environment, 10 NM from...

First, try to find info about "GPS enroute"... I think you are either "GPS approved" (for approaches), or "not GPS approved". As long as I know, that's how it works.

I have called them last summer... Mostly Kenyan pilots. You need the Kenyan license to work for them, and they don't pay for the conversion. They will hire Canadian pilots only if they can prove no Kenyan candidates meet the hiring minimums. They do have some Canadian pilots working for them (I thin...

Sunlife, no subprime unless you fly in remote area, on gravel runway, on non-regular schedule.

I guess ATCs are like us, different people can interpret the CARS differently. Thanks a lot for taking time to answer my question!

Re: ATC language usage
It started again! We had a serious conversation for once....! Command of the English language is a requirement of the radio license, n'est pas. So why can't everybody just speak English. Too simple maybe :smt040 Yes for commercial pilots, but no for private pilot. It`s not fair to say to a french pr...

Re: ATC language usage
I wonder. Can I speak french on the radio in Saskatchewan legally? Or is it only legal in Quebec? -istp :smt017 NO! The idea beside the rule is that the official language of Quebec is french, so it doesn't make sense to banish french from the radio in Quebec! And for Ottawa, since Canada is a bilin...

I'm a Quebecois and I don't think it's appropriate to speak french on the radio outside of Quebec or Ottawa. Of course I did it with Montreal center at night when it was really quiet on the radio and I was flying in Nunavut (and I realized I was not able anymore to do my comm in french!), and I chat...

visual and contact
I heard the other day on the radio ATC telling to someone he cannot do a contact (or visual I don`t remember) approach since he wasn`t under radar coverage. So here`s my questions: If, during an approach, I have to fly through controlled airspace, but the airport is located in uncontrolled airspace,...

Re: TC's definition of X-Country?
TC will always make me laugh! They ask us to do X-country flight time but they don`t know what it is! Of course, TC can tell you, in a letter, that "Cross country flight time is any flight that you will conduct, that will require you to navigate along a route to a destination" but when it comes the ...

I found a link to the TP6010 map of Canadian Airspace I referred to above. According to it, a control zone can be class B, C, D or E. Therefore it is possible to have Class B starting at ground level and working up to the top of the CZ. http://www.tc.gc.ca/civilaviation/AerodromeAirNav/Standards/AI...
