Re: First Day as a new First Officer

Mr. Aviator 19 Don’t make me bring out the duck tape...... :smt040 On a more serious note. You are not thefirst to have these questions. And the person in the left seat has been there before as well. And chances are they have had experience with others like you, before you. Relax. Work hard and all ...

Re: Confed drops IFR

200 hour wonder is not a ppl person. And the OP is discussing regulations regarding the IF rating. He is worried they are dropping it from their curriculum. Maybe its time to learn what the CARs have to say... And I am fairly certainhe was getting some incorrect advice. I forget sometimes. This is t...

Re: Confed drops IFR

Good grief guys. Spend some time reading regulations. You do not need a group 3 before the multi. IFR You do not need a multi rating before you do the multi ifr. You do need to take two rides though, last I heard. But you can do the training concurrently.. you can take credit for IF training previou...

How much would that cost? Now I'd need to do all the IFR time 40 hours + multi

Really? I am fairly confident that is not the case.

Re: Finally wages are coming up

Quick question about monthly salaries.( not related to this company specifically) How many work days a month arethey based on? I am asking because Ihave heard thatsome companies expect pilotsto work 30-31 days a month for their monthly salary. Weather no fly days are considered days off...even if th...

Re: Westwind

Digits...the danger is with pilots that think like you. Yes, planes can take off with contaminated wings. But every time a pilot does it they are relying on luck. And there are just to many variables to produce “charts” TC has a lot of regulations, that, in my opinion vary between siily, ludicrous, ...

Re: Looking for Private multi engine/ifr instruction

Unless things have changed, ifyou have the 5 hours IF flight from your PPL, and the 5 hours IF from your night rating, you can do your multi IFR with a qualified person. They do not have to be an instructor. So class 4 may be a qualified person, notbecause they have a class 4, but because they quali...

Re: Looking for Private multi engine/ifr instruction

Using a private aircraft , I think you will find that the fixed costs based on low utilization and variable costs make the aircraft more expensive than at a school. Plus extra insurance costs for using for training, Plus an owner willing to agree to the use of the aircraft for training. Its a great ...

Visited HKG last summer. Approx $4000 USD for a 450 sqft apartment, in Central HK, near a metro station that would get you to the airport in 90 mins or so. ---------- ADS ----------- Why , as a pilot, would you live in HK central? Discovery Bay is alot closer by bus or car from the airport. Amazing...

Re: Cathay Looking For Canadians

Its been a few years for me, but keep in mind that when you talk salary, HK has ( or used to have) a top tax rate of 10%. Its not always what you earn, but what is left in your pocket. $110k with 10% tax as opposed to Canadian tax rates... Also, they have a couple of feeders...interesting they are n...

Re: Why does everyone want to work at Air Canada?

Why do people include per diems as part of their Salary? They are employer reimbursement for unspecified, work related, out of pocket expenses. And CRA does not consider them salary. Check yout T4s. The sense I get it is similar to asking someone the temperature and they include the wind chill .sounds...

Re: Winair DHC-6 FO posting

The on your license thing is, or was, a fairly common requirement for all the EC regulators. It is not difficult to get. You used to be able to use your PPC as evidence and fill out a form , have it signed, and voila...a -6 rating. At the time I was an ACP and signed my own. Not sure now who can sig...

Ok. Your first day. After your third review in the mirror, you should text your Captain and confirm what he wants in the coffee you are going to bring him. Park in the very farthest spot in the parking lot to show your respect and consideration for others. Try not to bump into anything because you c...

My experience is quite old but you can check. WinAir is a Dutch Airline. You willhave to go to,Aruba to do your license conversion. It is not a simple or quick process. And you might have to pay. It is interesting, that in other jurisdictions, the regulator does hold the accountable executive....accountable. The AE can pretty much hire who they like for ops mgr, DOM, CP. Amazing to read the OP and all the answers. Does no one actually love flying enough anymore to say...let me fly. Pay me , and treat me fairly?
