Re: Red Deer Student Lost
There is a lot of truth here and a lot of bullshit. If anyone is convinced that everyone involved with aviation in Red Deer is simply doing nothing to try to improve the overall safety of flying in that area they should simply stop flying at all. Flying the hangar might be better suited for you. The...

Second page of the application for a 702 AOC tells you all the different types of aerial work that can be offered.

Re: "Aerial sightseeing only" need an AOC?
Sightseeing is absolutely type of aerial work that can be applied for under 702. The catch is you need to take off and land at the same point. Add a second airport in the mix and that’s air taxi or 703.

Re: EIC buys MFC
None of the Chinese students are here by their own choice and 99% of them want to get back to China as fast as possible. Any thoughts of using them in a TFW capacity especially when they want to be on an Airbus or Boeing in China is hilarious.

Re: CPL flight test slow flight (Cessna172)
I think there is some confusion between instructing and examining. Absolutely teach your students to be the best pilot they can be and put them through the entire slow flight speed range in all available configurations. Do the same with stalls. When examining I’m looking for no critical errors or de...

Re: CPL flight test slow flight (Cessna172)
Any examiner that demands flaps obviously didn’t read the FTG very well. In examiner workshops it’s embarassingly bad how some examiners run a flight test. The guide itself makes no mention of required configuration like landing or missed approach only that the stall warning needs to nearly continuo...

Re: COPA Successfully Lobbies TCCA on IFR Testing Requirements
I think what they are actually celebrating is that TC wanted all IFR tests to be done in an aircraft equipped with an IFR approved GPS installed. Where are you reading that TC no longer requires that? My eyes are failing... https://copanational.org/en/2017/11/30/copa-drives-ifr-testing-changes/

Re: COPA Successfully Lobbies TCCA on IFR Testing Requirements
I think what they are actually celebrating is that TC wanted all IFR tests to be done in an aircraft equipped with an IFR approved GPS installed. They lobbied against that requirement allowing cheap old farts to keep flying IFR on just NDBs and ILS/VOR only equipped planes. I asked COPA what percent...

Better than industry standard pay...
It seems every flight school now is offering instructors better than industry standard pay in their desperate attempts at attracting applicants. If that’s the case wouldn’t they just be offering average pay? What is average pay now that instructors are making above the arbitrary previous below avera...

Re: ~ Is Foreflite worth it ? Navigation Questions
Buy Foreflight and put it on your iPhone and iPad. Comments on batteries dying are overrated as there are several ways to create redundancy with power adapters and supplies. The enhancement to your situational awareness is worth the cost. Trips become more enjoyable. Planning becomes more efficient.

Re: PPL "legal" minimum DUAL time
Aviatard I've been a pilot examiner for 10 years and have been to many different schools. Therefore I have access to their completion times and direct knowledge of the skill levels of their students. Compare students from different schools with similar backgrounds and the schools with poor supervisi...

Re: PPL "legal" minimum DUAL time
Any flight school that quotes you 17 hours dual for a PPL has already lied to you. Do you think it gets better from here? I bet their average actual PPL completion hours are north of 100. Also if you're dumb enough to fall for that quote I don't want you as a student as my school as you place no val...

He told me he could get an FTU up and running for $75 and wheels up in under 90 days. That was two years ago. The situation was such that I will as sarcastically as this media will allow wish him the complete best of luck with his new operation.

If you think it's expensive you aren't validating the convenience correctly. Try driving or taking a train.
