Dave, as a retired Air Canada pilot who went through quite a different albeit enjoyable interview process, your willingness to put yourself out there for these young pilots is very commendable and refreshing!

If I remember correctly Air Canada revised their procedures a number of years ago so that either pilot could call for a go-around. I think it related more to a stabilized vs unstabilized approach at the time.

Cat Driver pretty much defined my limits also, you always have to have an out, and just because you can do it doesn't mean you should.
Personal limits like these are why I am still vertical...for now anyway.

Well, if they thought diversions on the Atlantic were expensive, waits till they have a couple in Asia!
Even going to your alternate due WXX or whatever is a major you know what show...never mind having to divert in Russia.

Totally agree with Duranium, there is a not that small percentage of the pilot group as well as the In flight that need some counselling. Well, this is incorrect on several levels, one thing I will comment on is tha Air Canada can and will assign you to aircraft off the PIT course based on requirements. After you are on the line then seniority dictates what you can hold in terms of aircraft.
