Re: Jazz Reqiurements?
Oh man, the amount of fun those kids are going to miss out on. Fire detection low level, running along empty over the bush at 300' on a beautiful day, the people you meet flying 703. The comradery in the crew house, hangar stories from the old guys, bonfires, waterskiing behind the crash boat, etc....

Re: Express Pilots VS Mainline Pilots
I can see jealousy eating a lot of the Jazz guys alive! Yes, that's a fact. The hatred toward those that made it to AC by the ones that didn't is unreal. One only needs to listen to some of the discussions around the crew room or the shitty lounge! You came to Jazz to work for Jazz, not Air Canada....

Re: Express Pilots VS Mainline Pilots
I'm still confused how operating a 175 for Sky is any different from operating a 190 for mainline... Again ... The American pilot market is doing much better with true flow-through on most regionals as well as commuting policies, hotels, signing bonuses, retention bonuses...etc Well, sort of. I com...

Re: Northern Operators threatened by 'absurd' Transport Canada rules
So when did the federal government consider north of 60 a part of Canada ? I was in YZF in 79 and it was in control of the feds back then and it was good 3 paycheques a month 2 company and 1 federal for living up north , i recall 890 bucks a mo. tax free and you couldn't go wrong if you had brass b...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing
I find myself curious about who the base manager was at the time, and how great was his influence over the decision-making of the younger pilots. I have a feeling I know who it was, and I have a feeling his attitude wasn’t a great help in situations like these. I’m trying not to slander anyone here...

Re: Wasaya caravan missing
I agree that it took too long for the report to come out. At least this message came out before the new icing season! What I found deplorable though is that Wasaya was dispatching Caravans in that kind of weather in the first place!!! With experience levels the way they are, companies need to provi...

Re: Rumor about %30 pay increase
Hey, I am going and I realize that discussing the contract isn't an option. But I'm going into it with full intentions of telling them how encore has now become the path to Air Canada and a more suitable regional option in terms of long term career progression if going and flying the big metal is w...

Re: Rumor about %30 pay increase
FYI - as the Jazz pilots are represented by ALPA, it is illegal for the company to survey, interview, or solicit opinion from any Jazz pilots on any issues covered under the collective agreement. It would appear that some attendees are not aware of the terms of reference of the focus group. You may...

Re: Entire application process timeline?
Applied in late July, did the first interview in late August. They told me I passed the interview but I don't have enough experience for the sim eval so I have to wait a few months for that. I admit I am not the highest time pilot (1300 hours or so) but if I don't have enough experience why did the...

Re: Make Northern Ontario flying safe again!
Reminds me of the saying, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience, gotta fill up the experience bag before the luck runs out. These days there is so little experience left in the bush Jazz took it all. It sucks that not a lot of people are wanting to head up north and...

Re: Reserve and Holding a Block
How long after completing training do pilots normally sit on reserve before they can hold a block? I know it must be different for each type/base. But ballpark?? I've searched but couldn't find the answer talked about recently on here. All depends on how fast the list is moving on your type/base. C...

Pretty standard for northern crashes but still leaves a bad taste in your mouth. In YXL when you taxi up the one taxiway close to the maintenance facility you can see I believe that Lockhart Air airplane that crashed in YAC. Still no accident report out yet on this one... Re: Make Northern Ontario flying safe again!
You will never be or feel fully prepared for flying up north. Lots of things change. And its up north where you have to make decisions and based off the decisions you make experience is gained. And the only way to do that is to just go out and give it a shot.

Re: Training Department backed up
In my 2 year experience at Jazz I have to say CRJ in YYC or YVR would be the best choice for lifestyle. I have been both and this month I have 18 days off. The main reason is because the CRJ does domestic flying (YVR-DFW) and out east they do short flights(Transborder headache flights). The bad news...
