Re: IFR Practice Apps

IFR Simulator is an amazing Android App. Its by maihoffapps, version 0.2.4 There is a free version that comes with ads, and I think the paid version was $6. Worth every penny. If you spent the time to master this app you could save yourself a lot of money in training. There's some quirks with it, li...

Re: Best Cellphone Plans for International Crew Members

I just do that $7 a day thing from Telus but I'm not south of the order enough to justify a monthly plan. Catch is flying over the US if your phone picks up a tower you get the bill just for the electronic handshake...aeroplane mode yeah.

Re: Manitoba Govt Air Services to be Privatised

So Vanguard Air Care is running around telling everyone they have the RFP Ambulance contract (however it has not been announced). They are making a concerted effort to poach AMS medic staff from other carriers using this statement even though it is not true - real greasy! They even have their rampi...

Do you guys think the max will stay on the NG type rating when the dust settles, or will it require its own simulator and type designation?

R1 should sell billboard space on that Beech 300 that lives permanently on the corner of Palmer Rd and McCall way. It hasn't moved in years.

Re: Boeing Tumbles on Grand Jury Subpoena Probing 737 MAX Approval

Must say I have to agree with the above post. Money and greed are nothing new; you would need to be off the clock psychotic to knowingly, and I say knowingly, put out a faulty product that is guaranteed to attract worldwide media coverage in case things went wrong. Same goes for a regulator that wo...

Re: Westjet Mainline FO ad.

Why does WJ mainline even hire OTS? I mean, I know a handful of Encore Captains who have been there several years and still havent had the opportunity to flow up. Why not make the hires 100% from encore? It must be a little frustrating seeing waiting for the call when half the 737 classes are outsi...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

The more I read about this MCAS system the more I wonder why it isn’t handled as a stab trim runaway by disabling it with the stab trim cut off switches. Or does this come down to crew training in other parts of the world on this jet that isn’t adequate compared to the US and Canada? I wonder that ...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

While I think 200 hour pilots do pose a potential risk to aviation safety, I don't think it's reasonable to let speculation on this incident drift in that direction. There are statements out there stating the pilots declared a control issue and the plane went down in conditions a 5 hour ppl student...

So hypothetically then, should I try and parlay my light twin time into a decent seat at Georgian as fast as I can then hope to be the last one through the PML to AC as they shut off the lights and lock the doors? I find this stupid. 11 people now in total have died in the 206 because they couldn't get out of the airframe while inverted and submerged. We have to look like we're doing something...ok everyone has to wear life jackets now. WTF? Now we'll have dead people wearing life jackets in inverted submerge...

Pretty sure it's 80K for the BE3B captain. Fine for YLW, but no so much for YVR, which is why we haven't seen a YLW captain job come up in the past year but the YVR one seems to go unfilled. Can you still sneak in through the door everyone goes through to smoke? That's what I did 20 years ago. I just stood there smoking and when someone walked out I put mine out and walked in through the door like I worked there. I guess it's airside though so you could get arrested.
