Can-West Corporate Air Charters Ltd.

I see they are looking for a BE20 FO. But I have never heard of them before. I see that they are using a Slave Air email. Did they change the name of the company or something? Anyone?

I would say it depends on the type of aircraft operated. Currenly I fly a C206, 210, 185, Navajo, and King Air 200. I feel comfortable in all but the 185, in which, I don't think I will ever be 100% comfortable with it. It isn't for lack of training or time, just respect for something that could kic...

We are an Alberta operator and do nothing but single pilot rides in our Navajo. We also do two-pilot trips. I have been through two TC audits here and the only thing TC wanted to see was an acceptable set of SOPs.

I've never done anything but a single pilot ride on a Navajo. We are a single pilot IFR approved operation. However there are times when two pilots are required (customer or duty day issues). In this situation, the right seat guy may or may not be PPC'd, but he does have the req'd training. We've ne...

The PPC is not an accurate reflection of actual pilot flying habits. It is only a 2 hour snap shot that is the same every year. No surprises...a hold, a couple engine failures, what is Vmc? What does this accomplish? Sure you can be a little creative but the big question I have is how does this pers...

I'm sure that most CPs and OMs have better things to do than talk about pilot resumes. With the implementation of SMS, new weights, constant regulatory changes, training standards, duty days, and just your everyday flight operations, I'm sure most will agree time is better spent on these items rathe...

If you were against the standard weights in the past, and still are, why use them? Obviously if a passenger looks well over standard you should use the actual weight.

If weather meets the spec vis criteria but is still below landing minima, you can still depart as long as it is authorized in your ops manual. You'll need a take-off alternate along with some other conditions dependent on the type of operator you are.

Jazz, as far as VFR goes, all the CARs states is that in order to act as PIC of a multi-engine aircraft, a PPC is req'd. Reference CARs 703.88(1)(c)(i)

The best person to ask may be your POI as sometimes the CARs is open to interpretation.

Eventhough the BE20 is a single pilot aircraft, it is high performance and requires a type rating. Therefore if the SIC doesn't hold a BE20 type rating, he will need to do an initial PPC to qualify for the rating and then PCC for the remainder of the time spent as SIC. (Reference CASS 723.88)

jazz, I'll try my best to explain... PIC of a multi-engine aircraft (VFR or IFR)- need a PPC SIC of a mutli-engine aircraft (VFR or IFR)- need a PCC (coupled with a valid IFR if you will operate IFR)- if the IFR has expired, then a PPC ride would renew it. PIC of a single pilot aircraft (IFR)- need ...

We operate a PA-31 both single pilot and two crew. Our ops manual spells out the minimum training requirement for the SIC if needed. The SIC is a requirement of the customer. We also have SOPs that exist for operation involving two crew. I havn't seen any problems with the SIC logging the time. Even...

The CARs state "the Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day conduct of flight operations and the issuing of a flight release for every flight" However, for 703 operators, the PIC may be given the authority to self dispatch a flight as long as all the conditions of a flight release are m...
