Fair enough. I was referring more to the impact of the Transat and parked 737, but I didn’t word my response particularly well.checkremarks wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 7:02 pm Murray Storm said 814 New Hires planned on paper to hire in 2020.
No rumour, straight from him.

I don’t even think Murray Strom (VP FOPs at Air Canada) would be able to answer this.

Re: Who will bid the A220?
Anyone have any idea on how many A220's and what the timeline for introducing these will be for the rest of this year and next? I'm working from memory so I can stand to be corrected, but 1 this year, 14 next year (presumably staggered at one or so a month), 45 total with options for a bunch more. ...

Re: Decent places to live in Vancouver area near transit to YVR?
Olympic Village'd do in a pinch as well—pretty much everything you want. I lived near Broadway/City Hall for a while a few years ago and while pricey, was a very nice, family oriented area. Might be a bit slow if you're single and adventurous.
Have a crash pad in Richmond now. Would not recommend.

The command sims are not TC mandated either. It's an extra step that AC uses. The philosophy behind the command sims used to be to load the candidate up (sometimes with unrelated, unfair scenarios) but now they are treating it like a thorough LOE that is meant to build some confidence. Kinder, gent...

Re: Who will bid the A220?
Yeah 737. Partly a joke, but partly serious, it certainly wouldn't surprise me. This problem is dragging on and not even close to a resolution yet. They don't want to pay guys to stay home forever, and the pressure is building to make a move. Had they just moved crews right away they'd all be flyin...

Every link you provided are known, trusted, legitimate, and researchable companies. Except number 8 in that WeChat link you sent, I wouldnt trust that, seems fishy. First of all, thank you for actually looking at the links I posted (no sarcasm)! It doesn't matter if you would trust it, the question...

Indeed, a happy merger is what EVERYONE should be hoping for—none of this 'I want mine AND I don't want you to get yours' nonsense. Just think of it this way—whoever comes out on top is going to have to fly with whoever comes out on the bottom for the rest of their career. Ask the old guard Air Cana...

The majority of those applications are coming from the regionals. Mostly AC Express. Once AC hires all the OTS that exist, they will have no choice but to take basically anyone from Express that wants in and has the qualifications. Then what happens to the Express routes? It's not as simple as sayi...

Based on the summer and fall to date, plan on ~50% of your commutes being on the ferry. If that's palatable, you'll be fine.

I'd be surprised if your rotary wing time gave you enough points on the Air Canada ranking system to get an interview right off the bat, but honestly, it's always worth applying. I'd say chances are you'll spend some time at a regional before getting to Air Canada, so base your salary decisions on t...

That's technically correct, but there's a significant caveat when it comes to narrowbody f/o in Toronto...when you get online, you might be showing at 20% right off the bat, but your flying and lifestyle will in no way resemble what 20% would get in a fully staffed roster. i.e. your life is still g...

They do. ACPA has a sizeable stake in Air Canada at the moment. They're discussing what to do with all the shares they took on as part of the last restructuring now that they're worth so much—and I'm guessing they'll still be discussing it when the shares drop by 80% in the next recession

Indeed, as you point out, it's all highly contextual based on location and intent.
I'll not belabour the point, though. All the reference anyone should need is right there in their employee handbook or HR guidelines. Follow those, and you're good.

By scanity clad, my friend on the 190 tells me it was nothing more than what you see in the shops at the mall or in the walmart flyer. Admittedly speed read the article but wait a minute...............she had a 37 year career at the airline? Not quite. Judy Cameron, who also worked at Air Canada for 37 years, was approached for a comment on this case, and provided one. The pilot in question undoubtedly had a shorter career. You do...
