Re: Westjet CYHZ

I have gouge for my aircraft. If I don’t see 50 kts with a good decel by the 3 board, I execute a go around, giving me 3,000 ft to get airborne. I feel that once the aircraft touches the ground, crews are sometime mentally committed to landing. There is always a go around option if you know your ai...

Once the reversers are deployed you are committed to landing in most jets.
You can’t just roll it into a touch and go.

Re: One List is Back!!

Exactly, no private equity firm in the history of capitalism has let an acquisition sit on “billions of liquid cash”
That money’s gone homey, it’s just as likely Onex rips WJ down to the studs and then relists a lean mean flying machine as anything else.

Re: One List is Back!!

Future so bright now that even wj managements family members have resumes at AC..... Of course management is going to be looking for jobs... they're the ones who have a target on their back. Onex isn't going to want to pay hundreds of people to do the jobs of tens. As far as pilots are concerned, w...

Re: One List

This is something that no one has been able to back up: why would Onex sell Encore, and who would buy it? Q400s aren't in demand at all, let alone used ones, and no one is going to pick up a CPA involving a regional airline that is hemorrhaging pilots so fast that it can't meet the requirements of ...

Re: Air Canada Pay

An observation from this old codger. Why do chaps make comments on Air Canada’s salary structure when they (a) do not work at that airline (b) explicitly imply they have no desire to do so. Insecurity, I assume. Using pay and schedule as an example, a corporate pilot should STFU about how good they...

Re: C Series lands at EGLC. Toronto Island loses out. Again.

They even said Air Canada was forced to buy the C Series due to politics. Never mind whether it will or won’t fly off the island. (that remains to be seen) It’s not a secret that a large reason for the CSeries purchase was to get Quebec to drop the Aveos lawsuit, Mike Rosseau has said as much publi...

Re: C Series lands at EGLC. Toronto Island loses out. Again.

What’s your point? The M90 order wasn’t cancelled because it was a bad airplane, it’s because the US pilot unions won’t buckle on scope. The A220 won’t fit their scope clauses either. The New E175 won’t fly for US regionals either as it is too heavy to meet the standard scope clauses.

Just an FYI for the new ones coming with previous wide body FO time... the last class consisted of 10 people, 3 of which had 777 time from overseas carriers. Those 3 were FORCED out of seniority onto the 787 as FO's... don't think that has happened for quite sometime... surprised it is even allowed...

Two questions, what’s the difference between a theoretical 1500 hour pilot and the 3000 hour pilots currently sliding into “your” flow through positions? Re: Applying with ATPL pending

On a broader scale, and no ill will towards any particular person striving for the best job that they can get, WJ will be facing a backlash if they actually do hire a 1500 TT applicant when there are 4000-6000+ hour DHC8-400 Captains waiting to flow which has been postponed Two questions, what’s th...

The list of people getting screwed as you declare does not expand with time. People not yet hired have no entitlement to anything. Anyone starting these days knows fully that they are walking into a quagmire of seniority problems. Frankly the number of pilots potentially affected is fixed. JJJ Grea...
