Re: Boeing Update, for Air Canada Pilots — News and Views

I'd like to add that Calin has been amazing for Air Canada. There is no doubt. He is a business icon, and deserves the fruits of his work. His job is to protect the shareholders interest, and he is doing an amazing job. The share value reflects that. His job is to extract value from suppliers and wo...

Re: Boeing Update, for Air Canada Pilots — News and Views

How many Union officials have been rewarded with management positions for helping decimate the contract? That's a violation we should always remember......while we do nothing to stop it. I guess you'll be making a motion at the next LEC meeting to have the current CEO of APCA fired since he was a C...

Re: Boeing Update, for Air Canada Pilots — News and Views

Yeah I'll give credit where credit is due, he did turn the airline around. But he also fucked numerous labor groups in the process. It very much is an us against them when it comes to anything labor related. I don't care if he makes us 5 billion dollars in profit in a year, unless he shows he is wi...

Re: Boeing Update, for Air Canada Pilots — News and Views

Here we go with Canadian certification and a public inquiry. Under the "waffling" and useless Trudeau regime, don't expect progress. This thing won't fly this year. Air Canada should keep a core of about 100 pilots/instructors trained and ready to go. They can sharpen their skills by doubling or tri...

Re: Westjet Delta JV

We need the max for alot of Westjet network growth, but what we will see through the JV is alot of growth in our load factor on our wide bodies to international destinations. We already have exceeded our widebody loadfactors targets for an intial launch. With that being said, flying 10 widebodies f...

Re: Boeing Update, for Air Canada Pilots — News and Views

Air Canada is not paying the salary of their Max pilots. Boeing is. It would have to be a sweeter deal for AC for those pilots go back to work than is being offered by Boeing to make the re-training costs worth while. Calin loves a "good crisis", so I'm sure he's wringing multiple and massive conces...

Re: Boeing Update, for Air Canada Pilots — News and Views

Seems a very odd comment for a pilot. Can you clarify? DP. He's 100% correct. In normal flight conditions there was nothing wrong with the plane. If an AOA failed AKA "broken airplane", then things got interesting. I was referring to the comment on hoping baggage carts and service vehicles impact t...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

One could argue that the lack of utilization of both aircraft and pilots at Transat was unsustainable over the long term. A 450 hour year and 72 hour layovers sound great if you don't mind the idea of your company going broke. Transat pilots will definitely work harder at AC, but the rewards are far...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

+ 1 Altiplano.... that is exactly how I feel. TS pilots just don't bring as much as they think to the table. Period. The way a pilot group "feels" about what another group "brings to the table" strikes me as completely irrelevant. Its the same bull$hit that soured many a flightdeck during the AC/CD...

Re: Boeing Systemic Problems Continue

Nailed it L39guy, You’ve exposed the root problem and no amount of engineering will overcome lack of basic airmanship until pilots are removed from the equation completely. The way the profession is going I believe that day will come sooner than later. Today’s “professional” pilots are becoming mor...

Re: Boeing Systemic Problems Continue

Proof of why CBC should be defunded - a terrible and sensationalized story, particularly since the official report has been available for over 3 months. Not surprising in a sense at Terrence McKenna got caught by veterans a few years ago exercising less than honest journalism. https://www.cbc.ca/fi...

Re: Position Vs Years of Service

I meant 20% from the bottom, but I agree, a bit extreme. I should have specified. Also, what one shows for a position on the bid (paper) may not be how it turns out. A decade and a half back, people were bidding 50% on "paper" but ended up at the bottom of lists for years due to the downturn. Its gr...

Re: Position Vs Years of Service

Thanks DP ! Appreciate some more insight please : 1. Why is there such a big difference between the NB C & WB C ? Evidently the senior FOs rather be on WB than a NB C . What could change this ? Not long ago the NB C was almost 8-10 yrs, at that time did the senior FOs not want to hold on to WB posi...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

Give me a break rudder.... aviation is all about labels. From the moment you put your hat on (which is labelled) and walk into the airport. Rudder, we more senior pilots at AC, and likely most of those forum wide really appreciate your input over the years for its very informative and non-partisan ...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

Anyone who even considers giving up scope to protect "their airplane" should be dragged out back and beaten. All the widebody captains are out to lunch thinking they are at risk... I highly doubt any 777 787 or a330 capt is going to lose their seat if they went DOH... they are all under 1000 senior...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

Any "hold Transat pilots at Rouge" scenario sounds messy. Serious "common employer" issues may arise. Just use FAIR seniority integration ratios that don't clearly advantage or disadvantage any group. No scope adjustment...ever. That's a Pandora's Box waiting to erupt. Article One is the first Artic...
