Re: Instructor Rating

The written exam isnt the hardest, just brush up Air Law from CPL, with emphasis on FTU Ops, Class 1,2,3,4 upgrades, requirements etc. Flight Instructor Guide is very important - Make sure you know it thoroughly for the written. eg - 7 Learning Factors, Use of Visual Aids, Oral Questions etc Basic V...

Re: Exce$$ive ground briefings

You don't think that teaching the student reading the weather, weight and balance, paperwork, walk-around can wait until flight 2 or 3? Everything has to be done on the first flight? Absolutely not ! Its better to have it spread out over multiple lessons . In my opinion briefing is - What are we do...

Re: Exce$$ive ground briefings

When I trained, I dictated what I would pay. I don't want to talk about it with your clock running, thanks... I'm good. Ground briefing is not a licensing requirement. I had a student adopt this approach with me once. He was doing his instructor rating. I told him to find another instructor. +1 , P...

SAMRA/SARON Study Resources

Beginning to think of preparation for the SAMRA/SARON and was wondering if there are any resources that are useful in the studying for the exams, I know the ACWM is very important, what other books/online resources can I consult?

Thanks

First Air 737-200

Looking to fly a 737-200 out of Winnipeg and First Air looks like the only option , my question is , do they still operate the 737-200 on the Winnipeg-Churchill-Rankin Inlet route?

What are the other possibilities to fly a 732?

Thanks

Re: Dual Time Requirement

Just quickly googled the actual TC requirement page - The sim time for instrument is a sub clause of the 35 hours requirement. So am guessing it is actually ok !

Dual Time Requirement

Hi

Was planning on applying for my Commercial Pilot License with TC. Have a question regarding the dual training time requirements.

1. The requirement is 35 hours dual after PPL - Can a part of this requirement be met by including Simulator time as Dual training time?

Thanks :)

Re: An-124 landing on nose-gear

This isnot too shocking, i've seen this before on An-124s, IL-76s and An-32s. Infact SOPs for An-32s take into account landing on the nose wheel and are made in accordance. If you notice, all the three aircraft I mentioned, come in on a very shallow angle during approach, holding the nose low till t...

Instructor Rating Scholarships

Hi Having done a fair bit of research into going in for a MIFR or a Instructor Rating , decided on the latter for now. Have heard some schools provide instructor rating scholarships and in return the job is contractual. Any ideas on this plan ? Is it a good idea? pros and cons! Would also be great t...

Re: Kenn Borek Air Info

For a young pilot looking to see where aviation can take you (especially in the early years of your career), KBA would be hard to beat. I no longer work there but I imagine they're having a hard time keeping guys just like everyone else. That being said I'm sure there will always be a core few who ...

Clearing Turns

Every exercise we perform - steep turns, slow flights, stalls, and spins need some kind of clearing turns. What are the best types of clearing turns for each of these?

Thanks!
