YYC-up for a fun flight this weekend?
Hi, The aircraft that I normally fly is down for unscheduled maintenance. I took some friends out to Castlegar last week with the intention of picking them up this weekend, but now can’t. I was just wondering if there was a member with a plane who might want to do a flight out there or to Cranbrook ...

Insurance help
Hi, I recently found an aircraft I would like to buy some block time on. Unfortunately, the current insurance policy for the aircraft requires 25 hours on type prior to being able to take the aircraft solo. I’m sure the owner doesn’t want to sit beside me for the next 25 hours, and I won’t be able t...

Looking for block time or partnership YYC area
Hi, I am looking for block time but might also be interested in a partial partnership on a higher performance single or twin in the Calgary area. Looking for IFR certified. I have over 6500 hours, including over 800 PIC hours in piston twins. I hold a Canadian ATPL as well as an FAA ATPL. I would be...

Looking for twin block time around YYC.
I know these posts come up every so often, but just thought I would put it out there.
Looking for block time or partnership in a twin in the Calgary area.
I am an active commercial pilot with around 6500hrs in small aircraft if that makes a difference.
PM me any leads you might have.
Thanks!

Re: 1500 TT and 300 Multi for an F/O turboprop?
It is contrails. Not all flights need contrails certified crew, so there is still a chance you could get a job with them, but it is kinda a waste to have a pilot that is only qualified to fly about 20% of their flights. Depending on Experience, you will also need 400-600 hours of Multi-PIC to upgrad...

Re: How would you change the Flight Training Industry?
May not be as far off as you think with the advent of the MPL.Doc wrote:I guess, this kind of training is Okay if you're headed to Jazz, or AC. Maybe there should be two types of flight schools? One aimed at turning out the FOs of the future? The other, geared to teach "pilots" to "fly"?
I dunno.

Re: Training in US registered A/C
Ok, so looking over the regulations for Canada and the US, in relation to the issuance of a canadian private licence, it looks like training can be done in a foreign registered aircraft because of CARS 421.26 (9) wich states; (c) An applicant who does not hold a Private or higher pilot licence - Aer...

Re: Is instructing looked down that much?
In my experience, I would say that someone with a years instructing, will probably be not too much further ahead than a guy who has been working ramp for a year in the eyes of a prospective company. That being said, of you are looking for a job flying single engine aircraft, like pipeline patrol, or...

Training in US registered A/C
Just wondering if anyone knows if a student pilot can train in a US registered aircraft towards a Canadian license? Also, wondering if the US has any rule similar to Canada's rule where a high time multi pilot can train others towards a multi rating, without an instructor rating. Last question to pi...

Re: Inglish Proficcincey Exam???
The basics of what this test will consist of is generally decided by the transport delegate. A general layout of what the test could consist of has been sent out by transport to local schools to get basic feedback on this issue. The test are all oral, and can be done over the phone. They may consist...

Re: Calgary Flying Club or Morgan
Well, the world of aviation an instrument flying is all moving towards use of the GPS. I would suggest that he go to a school that has an aircraft with a certified GPS. In springbank that includes Fly Right and Springbank Air Training College. I know that morgan does not have GPS's in their aircraft...

Re: Piper seneca multi-ifr training
Certain multi-aircraft are not considered actual multi-engine aircraft in India. The Travelair is one of these as well as aircraft like the grumman cougar, and even the seminole. The Seneca is a nice safe bet for IFR training, I have not heard of any indian students having a problem logging hours in...

Springbank Air Training College has a international student program (mainly from India) that requires students to be trained from never flying before to commercial, Multi-Instrument rated pilots in 6 months. They say that they are short 3 instructors, maybe even 4, so everyone there works alot to ke...

It looks like there are 2 possible ways you could be legal to fly this aircraft on floats according to the CARs: get a seaplane rating on your Recreational Pilot Permit (you would then be able to carry a passenger) or If the aircraft meets the new definition of an ultra-light aeroplane you can fly ...

It is really depends on the price you are looking for. I like the Advanced ultralight aircraft that are factory built and far less likely to have problems. I know that Flight Design has come out with a great amphib called the Flight design CT. I think prices start around $100,000 CAD, but it is also...

I would definitely stay. I don't really mind putting in the extra time and giving "free" hours towards the school I work at because they are like my family. Training can be done in any certified aircraft, even home built or experimental aircraft. ( Many people train in homebuilts like RV-7's) If you have an ultralight, training can be done towards an ultralight or recreational permit. Most school don't hire class 4's just because they are cheaper. Alot of the choice to hire a class 4 is that they will probably stick around alot longer that a higher class instructor.
