Re: Interviews 2019
Study the capgen and rac in the capgen and know them very well. You could get bbq'd in the interview or it could be a conversation. Apparently both versions have been had. Mind you they were my FO's who interviewed. Not sure if it's different if you are leaving a captain gig to join them. I would im...

Re: Thomas Cook on the edge of bankrupcy
I'm sure there are emergency meetings going on right now at AC and Transat. I'd bet that those 320's (if they're any good) might be purchased outright by Transat with AC capital just to prevent route disruptions. UK creditors cant do much quickly if they stay under the Canadian sphere of influence....

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Almost 45% of the NB CA positions vacant are 737 positions. Many vacancies in the 737 FO MAX position as well. Guess these 737 MAX's aren't going anywhere contrary to the speculation of transat coming over with "Neos" Congrats to all. There will be a lot of movements on this bid. Interesting to see ...

Re: DOH merge.
I heard it from someone in the building on Logistics. Unofficial. But I have no reason to not believe it. If they aren't postponed, maybe they're just not calling anyone else, or maybe it's bullshit. But with super bid next week and the acquisition vote imminent... maybe they figure they need to ta...

Re: DOH merge.
Maybe so. Doesn't change the fact I left a pretty good job, with good seniority and basically layoff protection to come to AC based on what I was told by management in the interview. Hearing directly from the horses mouth that they were hiring 1000 pilots by the end of 2020 is what put me over the ...

Re: DOH merge.
Probably went cold because the merger or acquisition language in the ACPA contract is very favorable to AC pilots. ALPA would be DOH no questions asked. That's actually completely false and one of the perpetual lies ACPA keeps spewing to the membership. That's correct. Read the ALPA merger guidance...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share
Talk to some of your transat buddies. 80-100 retirements in the next 2 years. There’s 100 of your 300. The other 200 are holding top seniority numbers that will flush out in the next 15 years easily. The transat group was pretty aged before their expansion. The seniority numbers in the last 3 year e...

Re: DOH merge.
I would not say it is fun to work at Air Canada, as a pilot. It can be fun, at times, but for the most part it is a grind. We work very, very hard and I think this is why many focus on the money. That said, I have my life away from work and wouldn’t really want the 2,3,4-day layovers away from my f...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share
Alti, Tsam. Fantastic. That's exactly the point I was trying to make. It shouldn't be necessary to out incidents of retards as justification that a group is less worthy than another. There's no point in going down the path of "outing" the minority of douchebags that slip through the cracks. Air Cana...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share
Jettime LOL! Why don't we go through the list of winners that got hired at AC? Rouge FO found dead in her hotel room by hanging herself? She passed a psych eval and "captain SR's" fist pumps. Another new hire at AC that at his old company kept asking FA's and Captains what they thought about pedophi...

[...] Because if that was the case, you guys would not have favored 92% of that TA. Had there actually existed an experienced demographic that could provide these kids with a voice of reason, you would have educated your youth on how voting in such a contract could easily backfire pending the one-l...
Re: One list
It looks like I hit a bit of a nerve there with some of you. I am sorry for having offended you guys. I have no problem with fast career progressions. If the training and mentorship can keep up with it, then it's a fantastic time for the generation behind us and I would love to see a system where we...
Re: One list
How do you guys at Encore feel about your collective agreement now? Would 92% still vote in favor? I hope this serves as a lesson for you to not just agree to the first agreement that is put on the table. Perhaps you should have thrown your MEC back to the negots and delay the vote until this very i...

Re: Encore contract negotiations
As others mentioned above - yos would be tough being two separate companies (who pays?)... Other cool things like the one-list being finalized and no interview again are awesome. In one sentence you say YOS is hard because you're two separate companies, in a following sentence you say one-list bein...

Re: Encore contract negotiations
Are they getting YEARS OF SERVICE? The way I read the post above, no YOS. You get 1200 / month for 24 months when you flow to WJ. That means first year salary is closer to 68k (54k+14 top up) and second year you're around 72k or so. Correct? Smart move by management, looks like typical flow takes a...

What's the latest on the significant fail rates with the upgrades? Last I heard 60% fail rate on upgrades. That seems like a high percentage of failures likely not consistent with actual skill/attitude related failures, rather politics. Is there a "game" one has to play to upgrade at Sunwing? Or is ...

Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
Very interesting ...
Anyone remember how the Canadian / AC merger went through? Were they represented by the same union? I don't recall the details.
And what ended up being the animosity between AC and CDN pilots back in the day when this merger happened?

Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
With a market cap under $200MM TRZ is a potential target for an unsolicited takeover offer. There is a certain other related company sitting on $1B+ in cash. Acquiring TRZ and selling off non-operational assets would certainly improve its own competitive position and increase yields. Air Canada tak...

Re: Beginning of Transat wave?
How healthy is transat’s financials in your perspective TFTMB? Seems to me the company is investing in their 17 A321 (2 LR and 15 NEO)... that’s bound to come at an operating loss and its benefits not reaped until the planes are flying ? Seems perfectly acceptable that during an investing period an ...

You started with the BS and the lecture about the financial health and cash flow nonsense. FYI all operating airlines have strong cash flows but eventually it's the continuing loses that leads to layoffs and downsizing. You were bragging about how amazing TS was because the NEO 321 LR would save th...
