Re: Swoop cancels US flights due lack of approvals

Westjet is in the top 10 shorted stocks on the tsx right now. Hope some of you had the chance to cash out some gains. I think airlines in general could take a hit the next couple years but westjet stock may lead the pack on the way down.

Re: College Choices/Issues with Sault?

A degree may or may not be important for your future employment. A college diploma may or may not be important for your future employment. If you have a PPL, how much longer would it take to obtain a CPL at a flying club? Think time value, why spend 3 years in school if you can pay about the same an...

When you go for your medical at AC the Doctor checks your prostate, and usually comments “this is to remind you Air Canadian is your boss”. The pass travel is just another way you bend over and take it. It does not have to be this way, but no one will stop them. Like you said pass travel ...

undisclosed “operational reasons.”

As in we were to cheap to pay for crew, or to cheap to fix the airplane, or to cheap to pay for fuel. So now you are stuck to find your way on your own becuase we were also to cheap to have customer service reps or a call centre to help you make other arrangements.

Re: Time to have a real conversation about pay and our contract

Looks like the memos haven't sunk in. There are LGBTQ members on this forum, please be respectful. I don’t feel our comments are directed at the community that fits the company “diversity” profile. It’s directed at the “company agenda”. Do any LGBTQ get tired of the diversity emails? Probably. Don’...

Re: Wow, you really do get what you pay for

Is the practice of overselling not driven by the consumer? Lowest fare, how do you do this? You keep seats as full as possible trying best to always have every seat full. Sometimes you calculate wrong and have empty seats, other times you are wrong the other way and have to compensate some passenger...

Re: Wj share price blame

What's in it for the shareholder today? Swoop may not be done on the cheap. Still rocky road ahead. Oil prices are climbing. Also if you look across the board, many stocks have been down like the banks etc. I don't think this year will be a great year for airlines after the 2017 boom with so much ga...

Could we cost cut the Diversity department and divide this among employees for better pay? I mean we are in Canada, its pretty hard to not be diverse but those emails make it sound like we are accomplishing something.

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

As a Jazz pilot who was here when the 57 was introduced, I have no idea what you are talking about. The wages for the 57 were industry standard and as per our contract divided by 1500 pilots(status pay), no celebrations required. .....resulting in the lowest paid 757 pilots in North America...flyin...

In the meantime, everyone is ignoring the very obvious elephant.
Which is?
So many elephants to choose!

Has anyone polled the WJ Board of Directors to see how much support there is for a lockout? Or polled Justin Trudeau’s cabinet to see how much support there is for back to work legislation and an imposed contract? Maybe if the BOD was more inhaled with the “powered by employee” directive there migh...

That is correct no multi. So you can go to school another year and get a multi at a place like Sault... or you know, just pay for for a multi ifr over March break and join the workforce a year earlier and a year of school dumber than a Sault kid. I would take a year of work over a year of school but...

If in 1988 you made 20k a year that is the same as today's fo starting pay. If in 1998 you made 26k a year this is the same as today's fo starting pay. If in 2008 you made 32k a year this is the same as today's fo starting pay. And most interesting, one hundred years ago 2400 bucks is the equivalent...

Next, because of the short time to upgrade, if you average out money earned in your first 10 years it will be about 50,000 more than the average earnings of old contract pilot, most had to wait at 8-10 years for an upgrade. ALPA gets to make the seniority list for Jet, Encore and Swoop. You only have Scabs is if you make up a list that allows scabs.
