Re: Why does anyone want to work at WestJet?

That guy doesn't even want to work for Westjet. It's just China doesn't want him.

You won’t find a Flight Attendant in Asia talking back to the Captain.
Let me guess, you were a flight attendant.

Where is Halifax storing all these wrecks? Do they cut them up and ship them out by truck pretty quickly?

Damn that's pretty smart wording. If WestJet and AC had said that it would have shut down a lot of the arguments.

Re: Air Canada and Westjet...what a joke

Great, so only 1 person would have their life destroyed with the least sensitive test and "several" would have it destroyed with the more sensitive one. I wonder if that one that may or may not be used by foreign nations random testing flight crews. Good to hear it's employed non-typically in the wo...

Re: Air Canada and Westjet...what a joke

The drug test for marijuana isn't usually a blood test though. It's a urine test that checks for metabolites the body produces when exposed to THC. Will your body produce enough of those metabolites to register as a positive in a drug test? Depends on how sensitive the test is.

Re: Career First Officer at AC by design?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe for widebody aircraft (except the 767?) you would have to do the full course if going from the right seat to the left. They're not fooling around with aircraft with potentially 400+ people on them.

Re: Career First Officer at AC by design?

There are AC 777 FO making $220-240k working less than 10 days per month. Given the marginal tax rates in Canada, a top scale WB FO can take home the same as a NB CA working 7-10 days less per month with senior vacation. Individual choices. Can the 777 FO as sited in your example at some point hold...

Re: Thoughts on ACPA Joining ALPA...

While I'm not a fan of ACPA it strikes me that a lot of the people supporting the switch to ALPA are not actually Air Canada pilots. Are they after making things better for Air Canada pilots, or hoping to get a piece of what Air Canada pilots have for themselves by making a more level playing field.

Re: Swoop cancels US flights due lack of approvals

This, plus the 767 fiasco, does not bode well for the new 787 ops. I still don't understand how they are planning to get slots. It's strange that they did so well under the Southwest model but then decided to completely steer away from it. Another one for the text books.

Anecdotally, I think we have all at one time or another met the stereotypical burnt out pothead. For us to say it has no lasting effect after it is no longer felt is just being disingenuous.

Re: Cannabis Policy ???

If Marijuana is banned then so should alcohol. And why shouldn't it? It impairs performance for safety critical jobs long after consumption. This is scientifically proven. I hope that's where the policy is going if it is fought by the unions.
