Jazz is a leaking ship with a massive storm on it's horizon.

There will be casualties, all will not survive what is ahead.

Why on earth would you buy a ticket for this boat ?

Re: QATAR AIRWAYS PILOT ROAD SHOW - YYZ

Stu you don't read very well. You must be old. It says "package equivalent to $xxxxxxxx US BEFORE TAX" then they use a random low rate. This is not what you will be paid in pocket. You will be paid far less, about 35% less. That 391,800 value means you actually will only be paid $250,750 and then yo...

Re: QATAR AIRWAYS PILOT ROAD SHOW - YYZ

There is a no poaching agreement between the three airlines. Although the one with Etihad is rumored to be no longer in play. Your training bond is for 3 years, and after that command is a year away, so why would you leave and go start at the bottom again ? Command is 7 years plus at Emirates right ...

Well I guess we all have our priorities.

For those however, who put their career before voyeurism and alcohol,
I hope you manage to attend and have your questions answered.

By the way, I'm sitting by the pool with a beer as I type this, and the view is just fine. :D

QATAR AIRWAYS PILOT ROAD SHOW - YYZ

QATAR AIRWAYS will be holding a pilot recruitment day in Toronto. For those sick of what has become of Canadian aviation, it is a opportunity to turn things around. Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel June 19 & 20, 2014 Two sessions, 10am start & 3pm start Late arrivals will not be allowed to enter after...

CRM failure at the heart of First Air crash

The final report is out and online. Another example of a Captain too pig headed to listen to his FO, and a FO not able to rise to the level of assertion needed to save the flight. First Air has always been a behind the times kind of company. Hopefully this will help force their out dated culture int...

Re: Correlation between pilot pay and Safety/Professionalism

You might want to review JetsGo's safety record before you say the two are not related. Low pay means nobody stays for long. Nobody stays for long means a pool of experience is never built. A pool of experience never built leads to events like Colgan Air in Buffalo. Low pay equals a low experienced ...

You might want to re-think your absolute certainty: there already is an LPV approach at CYTZ.
Please tell me where I can find the CAT 2 or CAT 3 approach plates for the island.

Re: Porter's future

4.8 degrees is beyond what is legally allowed for CAT 3 approaches so LVP ops on the island is not possible. Also swept wing jets and straight wing turbo props are two very different types of toys. The talk that we will just start flying this plane like we do the Q400 and everything will be fine, hi...

It has been my impression that the alimony cheque was always on the horizon for these guys, they just chose not to see it, and the move simply hurried up the inevitable. My wife came here as I did, open minded and without negative pre-thought. See has found a job she enjoys, made many new friends fr...

Just where do you get the idea over seas flying doesn't pay ?

Re: Must be a record...3 go-arounds for one flight.

The real fun part about the Jazz reports is that the guy who nailed the CRJ to the runway is now flying at West Jet. 3 go arounds is unprofessional, PERIOD Get a short vector, then you do not accept it. Don't blame ATC for your lack of judgement and skill. These two idiots most likely scared the cra...

Re: PILOT JOB ROAD SHOW FOR QATAR AIRWAYS

The A320 roster is better than it was a couple years ago. I'm not going to tell you it isn't the work horse of the fleet, it is, but it has improved and most of the guys I know on it are enjoying it. As I said, people get fired for not doing their job, just like any other job. Everybody I know who w...

Re: PILOT JOB ROAD SHOW FOR QATAR AIRWAYS

I am a FO, in company provided accommodation, so no rent or utilities to pay. My take home for a month with no vacation in it is usually $9,400 CDN. + or - $300 Depending on how productive my block, hours in the high 80's 10 days off in Doha with 2 or 3 days off at out stations. I have hit $10,400 o...

For those who missed the first chance, they are returning again, Montreal Sept 21 and 22
at the airport Marriott.

The market is a little more flooded this time, current on type is now a requirement.

Re: Any hiring news?

The real answer to the question is Yes, Jazz is losing ground.
Expect it to continue until they become as lean as SR.

7 year Jazz FO's are leaving to go direct entry Captain at SR on the jet.
They know staying at Jazz will be one nasty ride.

Aileron you sound like several old Air Ontario employees I know, just before they got sold up the river. Your boss has a long and well established track record of how he does things, but maybe you are far too young to know anything about it. The best predictor of someones future actions, is their pa...
