Re: Meet Swoop - WestJet's ultra-low-cost carrier has a name, a home and a purpose

Anyone sign up for the mailing list to get job fair info? I'm not optimistic that WAWCON will be more than anticipated but hopeful that someone somewhere figures out they can't keep screwing the workforce...

Re: Saretsky's legacy

I'm really not sure who to believe - I personally don't think a labour/trade union is inevitable given the size of any company (btw I've worked for an ALPA carrier, seen the good/bad/ugly). Respect, understanding, trust etc. need to be maintained obviously. It's all an indication of divided interest...

Re: Why?

For some people, taking a job offer from Encore will mean a 'better today' - believe it or not - and for others it's for a better tomorrow when they flow through to mainline. I've been knocking around the industry for fifteen years now, had some decent luck maintaining employment continuity, but the...

Thanks!

I think that would depend on how strength of the spam filter, but it's an internal AC email address from Georgina Michanos. Pilot Career Centre has the AC information up to date.

Good luck.

IL-62 looks like a copy of the VC-10; traditional cold-war fare IMO...there was a B727 look-a-like built as well...TU-154...

Re: RedBird Simulator

From what I can gather from the Redbird website, they might actually be running X-Plane. In the promo video, the touch-tablet the instructor is using, the interface looks to me like the X-Plane instructor console interface... If that's the case, then the instrument refresh rate should be very smooth...

A professional association can't fix this busted-a** industry.

Pilots would have to act professionally in the first place...looks like lots are posting here...

Re: NTSB TO HOLD A PUBLIC FORUM ON PROFESSIONALISM IN AVIATI

Professionalism is an attitude, not a title.

You can pay a village idiot $250K a year and it still won't change the fact that he's the village idiot.

There seems to be an ingrained sense of entitlement in many areas of aviation, and beyond.

Re: Are Hours overrated?

Yep, Pretend-A-Jet sums it up nicely.

The time requirement stipulated by many employers, AFAIK, relates mostly to their insurance policy.

Haha; the idiot insurance companies will drop their rates lower for a 5000hr idiot versus a 250hr idiot.

Stupid is as stupid does.

He had a tremendous presence and a warmth that enveloped anyone he engaged in conversation. Thank-you, P...

Re: N80HH MU-2 fatal crash in Ohio . . .

Regardless of a/c type, always sad to see this situation. I too have spent some time in the MU2, but not long enough to have it bite back at me; I fondly remember by time at the controls. I remember feeling my eyebrows rise up at the reading of the demonstrated dive speed; 330KTS IIRC. It's one hot ...
