Re: Airbus to rename the C Series...disgusting.

Personally, I am amazed that the Canadian public seems to be fine with our government handing over $8 Billion worth of tax payer money to Bombardier just to have them wrap it up and give it to Airbus. Criminal. IMO, Bombardier does not deserve to be in business. They can't seem to deliver on anythin...

Re: 737 Max Headsets

My headset doesn't have batteries. It is noise isolating rather than noise cancelling.

Re: 737 Max Headsets

Ahh, that might be problem then. At Air Canada our 737 Max is equipped with the 5 pin XLR plug. Thanks. I have been using an XLR to GA adapter but have still managed to blow a few REU's. I hate the Telex 750 it comes with.

Bede

Are you guys having any issues with CPDLC and Satcom on the Ocean? Specifically in the Max?

Re: Landing the max

No, we don't teach to "chop" the power at 40 feet. Power is reduced in the flare, idle at touchdown. Aircraft limitation is AT off by 50' unless doing an approach with both autopilots engaged, such as Cat2 or Cat3. There is a note that allows deselecting of the speed tile to keep AT armed in the eve...

737 Max Headsets

Hi Guys I have a question for the Max drivers. I have been flying the Max at AC for 8 months now and we are relegated to use non powered noise cancelling headsets. The aircraft came equipped from Boeing with Telex 750's which are garbage and anytime we plug something else into the airplane, whether ...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

I've been slowly reading through this thread lately trying to learn as much as possible about AC. I am not all the way through but have a question relating to a current opportunity. I have been interviewed for two different positions and am curious which one is the more likely to appeal to AC in th...

Re: Possible CSeries routes?

The reality is simply that no one knows "for sure" what Air Canada will pay for their CS300s. My 'speculative' suggestion that at $30 million per aircraft (if we're to believe Boeing's math) the sum upon full delivery of 45 aircraft to AC is still no small number. I doubt an airline like Air Canada...

Re: Cancellation Reasons

Quite often it is the airport authority that says "hey bad weather cometh, we cannot deal with the capacity, you must reduce your schedule." So basically, the airline has to "streamline" the schedule in advance of a known weather event because the airport cannot handle it. Your airport improvement f...

Re: Air Transat vs Air Canada

Actually I agree with what complexintentions had to say. We do have "those" guys at AC and at times, I feel like saying "if you really think it is that bad, the door is right over there". I just don't like being around negative people but who does? The stark reality however is that one man's paradis...

For the young ones out there, I say again, 100% job security, they will be always bailed out, too big to fail.

Hail big red.

Just curious, many people seem to claim or make reference to an Air Canada bail out. When exactly did this ever happen?

Re: Possible CSeries routes?

Aaahh the CS. There is an interesting subject. First off, I don't think AC management could tell you what routes it will be flying, if any, let alone anyone on this forum. It must be remembered that the CS was never part of the business plan until it became evident that if they placed an order, the ...

Re: Commuter hotels YYZ

The Indigo which is now a Best Western Premiere on Carlingview has always had good rates. However, they had incidences of Credit Card cloning going on. So much so that I just kept a basic no frills low limit CC just for commuting hotels. The incidence rate has declined substantially but it seems to ...

Re: The attributes of the 737MAX joining the AC fleet?

I am currently flying the new Max at AC. To compare, I have flown the DC9, Embraer, Airbus, B767 and B777. From a pilots perspective, I prefer the Max to both the Embraer and the Airbus. The Airbus has a bigger cockpit and nicer ergonomics for sure but it was also designed from the get go so that Zi...

Re: Express Pilots VS Mainline Pilots

After 30 years I love flying and love my job. However more often than not, I hate going to work these days. The BS one has to go through just to get to the friggin airplane is ridiculous. The mall cops are so busy checking for waterbottles and chap sticks, yet totally miss the fact that guys on the ...

" No cash changed hands "

I beg to differ. $1 Billion in Canadian Taxpayer Bailout money has evaporated and been given to Airbus.

Re: Upgrade times and pay.

Spent 7 years on the 777 doing Asia. Primarily HKG and PVG. Not really an issue for me sleep wise. At TOC I would be in the bunk for a three hour nap, fly for three hours and then back into the bunk for another 3 hour nap before coming back to the flight deck. The first few months took a little gett...
