Re: Set Cruise Power?
Here's an interesting read regarding the Concorde and it's use of fuel "trim tanks" to maintain the CofG during the transition to/from supersonic cruise due to the shift of the Center of Pressure At its cruise speed of Mach 2, the center of pressure had moved a full 6 ft (1.8 m) aft of its location ...

Re: Rental Cars
Just used Hotwire.com to track down a price. Then called cheapest company directly and they knocked off a couple of more. Enterprise at LAX for $130 for a full size for a week, everything included, unlimited mileage. Seemed cheap enough for us without the negotiating hassle...

Not to add fuel to the fire, but I've seen Pasco exceed approach limits in bad weather flying into CAD4 on more than one occasion as well. In that narrow valley a missed approach could be disasterous. I think quickfixx is claiming they landed by going below the limits..... My interpretation was tha...

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a missed approach supposed to be the ace in the hole? That's your way out if things come off the rails, both Ifr or Vfr. That's regardless of the airport. I'm pretty sure Transport would eat the PIC alive if the reason for an accident was "I had to blow minimums and...

No one flies 1900's with passengers at Georgian with less than 2000hrs I stand corrected, however, I am sure I have heard that Tindi hires low-timers, and CMA blatently advertises a low-time program (read: cheap ramp labour for 1-2 years) to get into the right seat. CMA flies into Pentiction and no...

To Clunckdriver, Over several years quietly watching I have to say I agree and respect most of your posts. And while I understand your (and it seems numerous others in the industry) opinion in this matter I have a bit of trouble swallowing the logic behind the opinions voiced in your letter. From my...

Oh goody, goody! Do we all get to tattle on each other? Like the time a certain Jetstream operator from South AB got their clearance while still boarding pax stranding us on the ground with both turning...or a PC-12 operator in North AB taxied in front without talking or looking first cutting us off...

While working the ramp, we watched another crew push back a 737-200. They attached the tow bar to the a/c but only set the bar on the tug attachment and forgot to put the pin in. This is when we discovered that the ramp has a very slight incline. Guy in the tug starts the push and suddenly notices a...
