Re: First Job

Alexis, If you're willing to move, as you should be low time, and you want northern/bush flying I would suggest NWO. Specifically, Superior Airways out of Red Lake. They treated me well when I was there. Usual progression for guys was Ramp -> 182 -> Right seat on (What they needed, either 208 or PA3...

Re: Chieftain Icing

Thanks for the responses guys, as they say "No one will be old enough to make the same mistakes everyone else already has", so I thought I'd get input from drivers of the ho.

Re: Chieftain Icing

Nowherefast, only turbines around are 1900s, and PC12s... and an occasional 748.

Are they going to be more adept at icing encounters than the chieftain? (Comparison - I know they're larger/heavier, but for my future reference, are they better/worse than the ho?)

Re: Chieftain Icing

https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/standards/commerce-circulars-ac0147-1615.htm The most important part of this AC is the date! I just watched a Mayday episode a few days ago where the cause of the crash was ice and a subsequent stall (tail stall? can't remember) One of the TSB discussions was ...

Re: Chieftain Icing

Clearly the left side of the aircraft does well, the right side catches faster than a peterbilt in ice fog, I hear what you're sayin'.

But seriously, it'll be interesting, fortunately we're going into the warm season, but with that comes the "I can't see out" due to bugs.

Chieftain Icing

I've recently read that the boots on the 'ho are the 'old style', where you want to wait and pick up ice before blowing them, as opposed to 'constantly'.

How Capable is the chieftain at handling ice? (Real world appreciated, not just 'book' answers).

Thanks.

Re: Best place for multi IFR training??

Did my renewal at cornwall in the redbird. They're all good people, but if you go with a "holier than thou" attitude, they'll pick up on it real quick. I know 3 porter captains, and two jazz FOs that went there for renewals before they got on at 705s. The school wouldn't still be in business if they...

Re: TSC- This school will take you to the Airlines

1. Will Jazz still hire a lot of pilot in 2021'ish like they do at the moment, or it will greatly slow down? (I'm wondering if it worth the money...) 2. Some of the listed schools offer Direct Entry to Jazz and some do not. What's the difference as they're all part of the pathways program ? Thanks ...

Thank you for your insight on the question posed, and not deviating to usual "the hell is wrong with you" that comes from the internet. /s

ForeFlight...

Since I can't find anything online, I'll just make a short post here. Will be picking up a Foreflight subscription at the "pro" rate. Does anyone have experience with pro vs performance, if so, for a twin piston charter job, which would be your recommendation? Additionally, I'm used to NavCan plates...
