Re: A "NEW" One List?
The salt in the wound is any Swoop pilot will have preference over WestJet spots before a WestJet pilot who decided to remain furloughed instead of taking a pink tie. Seniority takes second place to a spot as an "active pilot" it would seem.

Re: Encore wrinkles a Dash-8
Long runway almost always flap 15 when I flew the DH8D. Less flap is better in gusty winds and turbulence too, seems that's the case here. So flap 15 is normal for a long runway, but that Vapp doesn't make any sense to me. Usual method is to add half the gust up to 10 knots onto the REF. 20 knots i...

Re: Schedule/reserve/layovers
Keep applying to Jazz. They're flowing over 300 guys this year to AC.
Right now Encore has committed to flow 14 for the year until April. Maybe more to follow. Still at least an 8 year flow to the 737 with 600 odd Encore guys ahead of you.

Re: 2020 Hiring
Looking to clarify some things I've read on this thread. I saw someone mention that YYC is now the more senior base and a new hire would expect approx 2 yrs wait in YYZ. Is that 2 years for an OTS guy like myself or would that timeline be for an encore pilot? I understand this might be a "can of wo...

Re: One List is Back!!
The PTA is in force and enforceable. The rumours are true, but flow is promised to begin within the month, if they haven't already begun.
When was that promised? Where do you get this nonsense from? If you're even an Encore pilot you'd know the last we heard was second hand info fr...
Re: One List
Never was a supporter of the "one list" concept in which one carries their WJE DOH to mainline. It wasn't industry standard, and was bound to implode eventually. Was a strong supporter of "flow" however. Nothing personal against Encore pilots, but expecting to bypass OTS hires at a mainline is not ...
Re: One List
StratoP just chill out. Alienating the WJ guys isn't the answer. Anyone at Encore who qualifies for AC has either gone, or it in the process of. For the rest, it's just treading water. If you're stuck with keener captains taxiing single engine on snow covered aprons to try and save a dime then I fee...
Re: One List
Jazz has survived for years with no “one list”, and no “regional pilot incentive program”. Encore will survive too. True. Although no one came to Jazz having being given a seniority number at the mothership, and then 5+ years later had it taken away because of a vote. Entirely different situation, ...

Re: What can a Q4 experienced DEC earn at Encore?
At the moment Fast Air's FOs (And I'm sure it's the same in some other Medevac companies) make more money than what I used to make at Encore on the Left seat. Of course it involves PerDiems, Mileage, base pay, etc... but at the end of the day take home comes back to the same and some months even hi...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO
Good morning folks, I’ve recently been pooled and am super excited about it. I have a couple questions for those of you that commute: -Currently, how long of a wait is it to hold a YYC base? I’ve read the threads and consensus is about 2-3 years. If approved, would a shared seniority list with WJE ...
Re: One list
I think the dust has started to settle now, and tempers are starting to come down. Yesterday most were incandescent with rage. I personally think that most WEN pilots are committed to maintaining pilot unity, and not letting this divide us. I understand the reasons for the NO vote, and am optimistic...
Re: One list
Your career progression is still intac t and looks like Onex wants to grow internationally which will create lots of movement. Errr nope. If someone spent 4 years at Encore that time counted towards a WJ upgrade until today. Or a base move for the golden ticket that is YYC. Now they're back to Year...
Re: One list
Over 400 pilots couldn't EVEN BE BOTHERED to vote. To think how many Encore guys stood at the campus last year holding picket signs deluded that we were together in unity. What an utter slap in the face. I don't personally agree with the jumpseat ban on Encore for WJ commuters that seems to be purpo...
Re: One list
How many years would you suggest IS acceptable to be employed on one's terms of an employment agreement before the rug is pulled out from under them?
Re: One list
So the 4 guys can go screw themselves and wait 13 years to upgrade while another full company goes through, who is not on the contract and not a member of said union. Alot to ask dont ya think? Yes! They can go screw themselves. They knew when they signed up that they'd be bottom of the list. Curre...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
Another update. While WJ pilots have to wait an extra week this month for their schedule due to the MAX issues. All employee groups travelling for business are now eligible for an upgrade to business class. With the only excluded group from this being "deadheading Westjet pilots". FAs can be in Busi...

Re: Hiring outlook
How do you figure 5 years to flow to mainline? 600 pilots at Encore. That would involve Encore flowing 120 a year. At the current 50% flow that means WJ would have to hire 240 pilots a year for the next 5 years. I'm not trying to sound pessimistic, but I don't think that type of growth is on the hor...

Re: Hiring outlook
As an Encore pilot I'd say Jazz is the way to go. It seems like it's a lot easier now to get over to AC from there, unless you mess up the interview. Yes, Encore has guaranteed flow and (at the moment anyway) the "one list" for seniority. But please think about how long you'll be spending at Encore....

Re: Encore contract negotiations
Agreed Mr. North. Let's not forget that one of the biggest challenges they face is crewing Swoop with the current WAWCON. Removing Encore pilots off the One List will work in the company's favour, as it will likely push many Encore pilots to accept a Swoop position in order start their DOH on the WD...
