save your money and get your license on a R22 or something cheaper and get a 206 endorsement once you get your CHL. my son went this route and it worked out perfectly for him.

Hi Folks, leaving in a couple weeks to Edmonton area from Ottawa in a 172. Anyone done the trip in a GA aircraft that has recommended route airports to stop at or ones to avoid.?

This is for general conversation between 1 or more ac that are enroute together and don't want to tie up unicoms etc. Is there one for Canada? I'm reading the U.S has one but don't see anything about a reserved Canadian frequency. I see one mention of someone using 123.45. Anyone?

I always feel sorry watching students in control zones paying $250/hr and up waiting for a clearance, then having to fly out of a control zone. DA40 is even more expensive. I was going to get it, then found out one of the guys from the airport I fly out of, got it done here in Ottawa and it ruined his vision, ended up losing his PPC and had to sell his ac....scared me out of the decision. I'm sure this is rare but it does happen.

Anyone have experience installing interiors? ...specifically the plastic parts. The price is inflated on 172s now because the flight schools and survey outfits are trying to scrounge up every last one of them to press into service. Even at 145K, its still cheaper than any trainer made in the 2000's. Exactly, there are less and less (low time, straight) 172's around these days ...

When I was buying my 172 2 years ago I spent about a year looking at various 172s and 182s before I found my plane, and the Vref price is a pretty good guide. Anything in good condition priced close to Vref will sell quickly. The whole point of Vref is that it is the actual selling price for planes...
