Re: TA
Note that you don't have to pay union dues, there's usually an option to pay a charity instead. Perhaps that's something ALPA would be sensitive to? Then again 1 WB captain salary pays the same dues as 4 FOs on flat pay now? Iwould be downright surprised if ALPA didn't have Agency Shop language in ...

You guys need to pack up and come south. I don't know how you guys manage to stay in Canada. It's living behind enemy lines at this point. They are clinically insane in that country.

Well if getting in the ball park of Frontier Airlines and Allegiant, the second lowest and lowest paid major airlines in the US, which are both currently in negotiations for a new contracts was the goal, then mission accomplished. At least you get paid more than US regional pilots now. Personally I'...

So who wants to tell us what this means? Flat pay? Year 1? Top scale? Commuting policy? Reserve? Flat pay - continues Year 1 - $87/hr Top scale - $424/hr (777) this is where gains were made Committing policy - no Reserve - same crap Just read the details. Definitely not world class. Try reading Section 7 of the Charter. Life, Liberty and Security of the Person. Forcing a jab for employment clearly violates this section. Problem is, they will just try to use that section 107 again, as they did for the rail workers, and avoid parliament all together, which is crazy to me, and never what that part of the labour code was meant to do. It is a gross over reach of the government. The CIRB agrees with you. Whenever I worr...

Curious as to how fast or what the government will do if a strike position / lockout position is made. How fast will the government cave to public pressure? What are the consequences? Etc. The parking brake will be set until the company negotiates in good faith. This isn't ACPA anymore. Imagine calling up ALPA HQ in the States and telling them the Minister of Labour said we aren't allowed to strike anymore. It would be just laughter on the other end of the phone. I've been an ALPA me...

Yes (SIC) and No (PIC). You are required to due at minimum a Biennial flight review on each aircraft for which you are rated to act as PIC. Biennial Flight Reviews can be satisfied with a PC under 14 CFR 61.58. The FSDO specifically warned me about this when I converted my Canadian license. (14 CFR ...

Re: Cost of Training to Become a Commercial Pilot in Canada?
It depends on the method that you choose. You can buy a plane, train in it then sell it at the end, usually for the same or more than you paid for it and all you end up out of pocket for is fuel, maintenance and instructor fees for dual instruction. This is the cheapest way, but it involves upfront ...

I think you're all focusing on the wrong factor regarding US healthcare. I don't think anyone diagrees the quality of healthcare, and perhaps the waiting lists are better organized. Although you said don’t mention it, I would work on getting a job there. You have dual citizenship. Most of us only dream of that. Even if you go to a 2nd rate carrier like Spirit or Frontier, you’ll probably make more down there and not have to deal with the commuting hassle. If you add up all the...

39% uplift from $190/hr is $264/hr. Porter E2 captain tops out at $270/hr at 12 years. The 39% uplift would be for the AC captain rate of $214 The claim was that porter gets 39% more than AC which would be 214x1.39=293ish. I'm not debating that the pay should be higher than porter. I'm just saying ...

FYI for all looking into going to the US. If you go there on a worker's visa, and thus get a green card, may I advise to NEVER become a US citizen. Hi all. I know that license conversion questions have been covered multiple times here, but I can't find the answer to this one. Is the instrument rating baked into the FAA ATP? Specifically, when I go to write my ACH knowledge test (ATPL-H to FAA ATP), does the instrument rating ride along, or do ...
