Re: WestJet pilots to strike because $300K a year ain't enough
If you opened up Canada to US carriers they wouldn't touch 90% of the routes. They would operate the few that they can make money on due to the volume and not touch the rest.

Re: WestJet pilots to strike because $300K a year ain't enough
I'm not dipping my toes into pilot wages, but. There was a paper out some time ago that stated that it cost 87% more to run an airline in Canada than it does in the US or Europe. I don't think you have to look too far past the federal government to determine why Canada is "different" The Federal gov...

Re: AIP is dogshit
But the loss of the cash savings plan is an IMMEDIATE 20% direct pay cut to every pilot in that program. We have pilots doing the cash savings plan? (aka the owners to loaners plan). Who in their right mind provides the corp an unsecured loan for close to 0%? I don’t know anyone who does the CSP. C...

My response to this situation does not include ranting and bitching on a public forum.

Re: Competing Union
I have read a lot of BS here on AvCanada but this really takes the biscuit. This slander and character assassination has been perpetuated by some from the old guard WJPA for over a decade now and frankly, it is disturbing that so many continue to regurgitate it. The reality is that the individual y...

Re: Competing Union
If SW is the new MEC I will no choice but to support the other guys. SW is toxic and the company will not work with him, his past proves it. If this is the choice of the LEC they are completely out to lunch. WJ pilots should expect another garbage arbitrated agreement. I have read a lot of BS here ...

Re: Will Westjet survive?
I think Schwartz, AKA Onex, is not stressing about the current issues. They are looking a year or two out, and seeing lots of opportunities.

A friend at AC whom unfortunately has lost his medical is looking at a hugely reduced pension. We are the same age and my savings put me well ahead. He does have a fantastic loss of medical insurance policy which I wish we had.

18 years of ESP, and lots of work learning how to invest and manage your money has resulted in a retirement investment account that is currently sitting at 1.5 million. Yes, I like the ESP.
Re: One list
To call the WJ MEC completely incompetent is just far, far to kind. It's been a sh!t show from the get go.

Re: SWOOP OTS Captains punted from left seat...
Flight deck duty's take priority, but you are expected to help out, fact is there is pretty much always time to help. Over the last year or so it has gotten easier - on the majority of turns you just go through and gather up garbage and fold the seat belts - a third party groomer does everything els...

Re: SWOOP OTS Captains punted from left seat...
Losing money on every flight is not the way to fight a competitor. I flew with a guy the other day that was making the same argument and ranting against Swoop. I mentioned how the entire Canadian industry was bleeding during the fight against Jetsgo and just lowering ticket prices is not the way to...

Re: SWOOP OTS Captains punted from left seat...
The concept that the only way to respond to Flair etc was to create another airline is asinine. WS certainly had all the ability to add another product within the fleet. Rather simple and we didn’t need another high priced CEO. The concept that without the creation of Swoop as a separate entity the...

All of the this jump seat BS confirms one thing. The terms "Pilot" and "Professional" are not synonymous.

Yes, like many, I have been all over the world and we have it very good here. That said we are not getting value for our money, the mismanagement at all levels of government is criminal.
If I could legally pay 8% you would hear no whining from me - I call bullshit, and so does my accountant.

Yes, and of course nothing could go sideways, there is absolutely no reason to research the rest of the industry. Whatever narrative ALPA offers is the gospel, nothing can go wrong as long as you do what they say...
