Re: Westjet FO take home pay
2nd Year 737 FO Last few months average out to ~$7,700 per month take home (not including REIP as I came from Encore). I very rarely pick up Open Time but do occasionally and also have a pairing finish after 2am the next day which triggers 4 credits of Premium, but most months in that average do no...

Re: Westjet FO take home pay
Hi all, just wondering if a fellow Westjet FO could provide some insight on take home pay after deductions? I know the new CBA was geared towards taking away less in deductions. I’ve heard per diems are roughly $800 per month, but could anyone tell me what the take home of 38.75 credits is every tw...

My goodness, show me on the doll where the scary Airsprint hurt you?! I wasn’t going to respond to this because arguing on a forum is like wrestling with a pig in their favourite environment, but in case anyone may be interested in a future with Airsprint I can’t help but make a few comments. “Belo...

Re: Any Pilots live in Canmore?
Many pilots live 1+ hours from the airport and are able to hold reserve at WestJet. Realistically, if you're packed and ready to go, you can be as far as 1.5 hour drive from the airport, assuming 30 minutes to find parking, get through security and to the gate. Definitely. I guess I was wondering m...

Any Pilots live in Canmore?
Interested to hear if any of you are living in Canmore or other close to YYC mountain destinations? Is this do-able on reserve as a new hire? Long call? Short call? How many days on the pairings? Ultimately, how often do you end up needing to do the 1 hour + drive, and is it worth it to live in the ...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Base and seats should be protected at a minimum. Relative base seniority should then be negotiated. Just my opinion and it's like an a*hole, everyone has one. An arbitrator should not disadvantage one group over another, lest they risk losing their own license. Why seats though? As long as pay is p...

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
As someone on the outside here's what I think is fair. There will be a date decided when the WS/WG deal was effective. Anyone hired at WG after that date will be BOTL. Everyone hired before that date will be date of hire with 3 protections: - Pilots are base protected for x number of years - Pilots ...

Re: TUI style
Flawed logic. If we only needed 23 aircraft in the slow season then we wouldn't carry 27 aircraft year round, we'd likely keep it at 25 and try and increase utilization a bit. Of course, we're going to be able to avoid the burden of extra costs in the low season, that's the whole point. The whole c...

For the reduced and zero block, is that always available? Would it be reasonable to get 2 months unpaid off every year

Re: A Happy Right Seater
At some airlines, yes. But, for example, 20 YOS might get you close to the top of right seat 777, it would only get you barely half way in the left seat. There will always be a quality of lifestyle change going from F/O to CA. (Unless you were going F/O 777 to CA A220). Plus take a look at marginal...

Re: Our son wants to be an airline pilot... I have some questions :)
In Canada you need to be 21 years old to hold an ATPL (Airline Transport License). So in theory, a 21 year old that started at a young age can be a captain of a multi-million dollar aircraft. My understanding is that Europe and Canada have very different aviation industries as far as job progression...

Re: Delta now hiring Air Canada pilots
Any pilot who wants to work in the US needs a visa sponsorship (H1B,Green Card, and to a lesser extent a student F1) or already has the right to work in the US. You can look up which companies have sponsored visas or green cards fairly easily doing a quick search online, there are databases. Delta,...

Take home is $2000-2200 month after taxes and deductions Perdiums $1000-1300 Stop with the perdiem...it's money already spent. Unless you claim it on taxes....drop it. This is ridiculous.
