Hey tbone, don't count yourself out. Most everyone thinks they totally blow the cog tests (except me of course... :) ). If they called you back to do some tests, it means they're looking at hiring you, but need to see some "different" results on the tests (as explained to me by C.V.). I went in to r...

I don't know of many airplanes that have gear collapse like that unless it was from a hard landing. The RJ gear retracts inwards, not backwards and upwards into the wings!! I saw footage once of a pilot jamming the brakes on too hard, causing the gear to collapse. I think it was a documentary calle...

I ain't no chopper expert but icing up couldn't be a good thing could it? I know a guy who would turn the helicopter downwind while hovering and let the exhaust (turbine engine-duh) de ice the main rotor. How the heck would the exhaust be able to go up through the rotor blades while they're blowing...

The company I used to work for is using UAVs. I'm not sure where the regs appear, but to fly a UAV you need an SFOC (special flight operations certificate). The airspace used for the flight becomes restricted, and a notam with the details of the restricted airspace to be used is put out.

Maybe try talking to someone at an aviation museum (there's the big one here in Ottawa...), or Exhibit Transportation Services at CCI (the Canadian Conservation Institute). Their methods could be overkill, but they would be experts in protecting sensitive things to be shipped.

Ottawa has been like that for a few years. I don't know how they've handled un-flightplanned flights in the past - I don't fly around there too much anymore. When I do, it's either on a flight plan, or rarely enough that making the call is no nuscance.

Ok, so if I understand your point, the radar stops working in class G. People think that there is no service in class G but there is something that might be available and it is traffic information service. Ok suppose I agree with you and radar coverage stops at the class G airspaice boundary (BTW I...

I believe atheists make up about 5% of the population. Even if it were only 2%, that's still 2% of 6 billion people. That's more than a "very few."

Are you on an IFR flight plan or are you on an IFR flight itinerary? Are you within an area with radar coverage? Were you in contact with FSS/ATC before the comm failure? Do you have a cell phone, sat phone, protable VHF? I would use the lost comm procedures and common sense. Frac IFR plan or itine...

Another of our aircraft is a source of constant confusion for controllers and FSS folks (especially in Canada): the C212. We're often assumed to be a Cessna 212 (I've even been called a helicopter before).

I like the name for the Cessna 404 - the TITAN. Good strong name for a mean sounding airplane - love those geared Continentals. (BTW, in the States, we're still just a lowly twin cessna.)

With few or scattered clouds you could maintain visual reference to the surface and thereby remain VFR by keeping a vertical and horizontal distance to cloud of 500' and 2000' respectively. Different ball game if it's a ceiling. Quite right. And flying over some white puffy clouds in the smooth air...
