Re: Today's Province Newspaper and Transport Canada
So if a part fails due to the absence of following correct produres (as mandated by TC), the company is not liable because they were not aware of the pending failure? Following this logic, one could not be responsible for hitting a mountain if they never read a map that said the mountain was there? ...

Re: Today's Province Newspaper and Transport Canada
The engine temp limits had been exceeded prior to the accident but after the overhaul (due to a hot start). The automatic trend monitoring recorded the overtemp but the engine was not removed for inspection because the DOM was not downloading the information. Even if he had recorded the info, the en...

Re: Keeper River
Excellent way to build lots of PIC float time. Terry's pilots are among the best paid in the YRL area (at the C180 level). This is a golden opportunity for a newbie with a little bit of float time looking to test and sharpen their newly acquired skills. As Adam mentioned, PCB, CXM, and VTU are popu...

Re: Incident in YXT
Cat, the brakes were so weak that they faded into nothing after a few seconds of hard braking. The planes are very cheap to buy...around the price of a decent Chieftain. They made a lot of money with them as they only wrecked one a year and then either used the insurance money as a downpayment on a ...

Re: Incident in YXT
CatDriver....a company will purchase an airplane that is difficult to handle because the aircraft is much cheaper to purchase, therefore making the company more profitable. I flew a Merlin II that was so unmanageable on landing that they only built 20 of them, and most of them are now destroyed. In ...

Re: Incident in YXT
I think you're jumping to conclusions here without having all the facts. Maybe the FO was much more experienced than the Captain...you ever think about that? Why do you automatically assume the Captain was the more proficient pilot simply because he was assigned Captain for that leg? I have flown ma...

Re: Road trip, Long way around!!!!!!
Check your email or PM me.... you have exactly what we're looking for and no 2 years on the ramp. Last guy hired ramp did 100 hours PA31 F/O flying in his first "ramp" month and is already on the 206 (new H model with Sandel) and we are waiting on our brand new Quest later this year. Don't go to a l...

Re: Discovery Air
I think Discovery is finished. Borrowing at 10% is higher then their profit margins of 6% which means they will now be losing more money, making it harder to find new financing and its going to turn into a death spiral. Walsten's, Hicks & Lawrence, Great Slave, Tindi....gone in a year, guaranteed. A...

Re: Looking to buy bankrupt air carrier
Simple. Purchasing a bankrupt carrier allows the financial statements to be consolidated, thereby ensuring minimum taxation for a number of years. Its one of the last remaining loopholes Revenue Canada has not managed to close. Similar to splitting income with a spouse. Thanks for the lead for Deloi...

Re: Looking to buy bankrupt air carrier
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the latest tax law states the business must be in a related field to your current business which is different than what was going on in Vancouver. Yes, the Receiver General takes precedence over all other claims but I'm not sure where employees fit in.

Re: Looking to buy bankrupt air carrier
If Albert had accumulated $500,000 in losses prior to closing, then I could pay $25,000 to the receiver, and yes, the pilots might get some of that depending on their place in the pecking order. Do you have current contact info for their receiver or any idea of their total accumulated losses prior t...

Looking to buy bankrupt air carrier
Would any readers know of an air carrier under recent receivership with only the corporation for sale (i.e. no OC, aircraft, equipment, etc.? The company must have significant declared losses (i.e. in excess of $500,000) and no assets. I am simply looking to purchase the corporate losses in order to...

Swab.... give up now because you really have no idea how the real world works. Its about pussy, power, money and drugs. Why not get out of Canada for a few days and see just how cheap life is and what true wealth is all about. You don't think a deep sea fishing crew wouldn't drop $10 k for a day wit...

Re: I wana start somthing in the bush !
When you are thinking of an idea, try putting yourself in the position of the buyer and think..."is that something I would spend money on"? When you first start out, you have to be innovative and creative in order to fulfill a need that is not currently provided. Don't go head to head with an establ...

I'm not debating whether he is a good guy or not. I would like someone though to tell me why he decided to hire this pilot out of all the choices available to him, and secondly, why did he sign off on the Captain's sim performance as up to standard when he had trouble flying a straight ILS on a perf...

Re: Peace Air crash in YXJ report on the web.
Why is everyone so angry here? It seems that a lot of you cannot accept reality. Is is not the responsibility of an owner to hire the very best pilot (i.e. most experienced, with significant IFR time and time on type, along with exceptional references and outstanding sim performance) to assure that ...

Re: Peace Air crash in YXJ report on the web.
Tubedriver: why are you so focused on the one issue of an autopilot while disregarding the other comments, specifically: Out of the hundreds of experienced King Air Captains and Jetstream Captains in Canada, why was there a decision made to hire a new Captain with minimal IFR experience? Could the s...

Re: Peace Air crash in YXJ report on the web.
Ajet1A, you are trying to tell me that this Captain is a stellar pilot who just had a bad day???? So if you were to look at his sim file, everything would have been commented as "outstanding"? Yet he failed to fly an ILS and crashed on the second try? And all his IFR performance prior to this day wa...

Re: Peace Air crash in YXJ report on the web.
Causes of this accident: Not equipped with autopilot. Aircraft hand flown below glideslope and landed before the runway. Sim instructor failing to be honest as to the Captain's proficiency in an IFR environment. Line check Captain failing to ensure F/O trained and experienced to a proficient standar...

Re: Peace Air crash in YXJ report on the web.
Just because you are a great float pilot means absolutely nothing when it comes to IFR flying. The entire reason you train in the sim is to practice "when everything falls apart" in a safe environment. So I say again...who in the hell released this guy to fly the line after witnessing his sim perfor...

Re: Peace Air crash in YXJ report on the web.
This accident should never have happened. How did the Captain pass his simulator training under far more difficult conditions than what was encountered on this day? Why was the aircraft not equipped with an autopilot? The reason the aircraft was high on the first approach was because the aircraft wa...

So Doc, explain this one..... I, the owner and Chief Pilot, work the ramp for 12 hours yesterday loading about 10,000 lbs of flour, sugar, pop, etc into planes, pulling seats and organizing freight while my low time ramp / pilots do all the flying. :) Why can't the Wasaya owners do the ramp work for...

Re: Green Card for US
I haven't seen an actual green card but work permit, no problem. Almost any specialty work, i.e. waterbombing, spraying, survey, etc will get you in for contract flying with a Canadian parent company, provided you have a Canadian passport. If you really want a green card, I would suggest either goin...

Re: TO THE PEOPLE WHO THINK AIRLINES ARE NOT THE BEST JOB
I wasn't going to post because of some of the jackasses here that manage to criticize and twist everything people write, but anyways.... I have done both (airline and 703/704) and these are my thoughts. Most of my classmates at AC did not go there for the flying...they went because they had a respon...
