Re: ICS Canada AME Course

The best way the ICS course works is if you are an E licensed person and want a M or you already have a job and a AMO of flying club, and need it to get a license. I know of a few you got a start like this, first they got a job then they liked it then took the ICS course and eventually got a AME li...

AME(M) OR AME(S)

I would like to avoid schooling as much as possible. I have seen aviation companies hiring people with auto body experience, so I guess sheet metal stuff is a good field to jump into. The Aircraft structure tech course is 10 months. It starts in the fall in BC or AB I would like to end up with a (M)...

Adventure of a job search

Here is a honest warning of hardships to overcome if you're curious about getting into the helicopter pilots industry. I tried to find work in the spring of 2018 and I noted all my encounteers. + Alpine (Canmore) twice. Guys from last year came back, Visited : in person avoiding too many ground crew...

Re: Too old to fly for a career?

I was 29, did the course, did many road trips, visited over 20 companies... unsucessful. Even got laughed at like " oh no, another 100 hour pilot, hide! ...". NO JOKE! Some were welcoming but there was so much pity, I really felt like I made a mistake having hopes in finding a job as groundcrew for ...

Re: Too many flight schools ?

Maybe naive. What I am for certain is unfamiliar with the aviation industry. And about capitalism, ever heard of a car garage ? It's a business right ? some are ripping customers and some others are doing phenomenal job with passion. I am asking which school is the best to get the most relevant expe...

Too many flight schools ?

I was wondering if there was an issue in the industry at the low time level, found plenty of school for commercial training but I have not found many companies that hire fresh 100 hours pilots. Are some schools just businesses to make money ? which are worse ? Are there schools that will turn away s...

Re: Jobs in Africa and South America

I would like to know how to get a job in africa too. Got no clue where to start. Might be hard for me, another 100 hrs CPL just looking for a groundcrew in Canada... but if I can work in another country I would be pleased.

Re: Helicopter Training Options

Plan for post school funds. I have been visiting face to face companies and called many many others in AB and BC, I got only one interview. Money for gas, food, motels, your usual rent or storage fees. I spent around 5000$ since my CPL in 2 month. Its a hard choice to keep trying I am close to pull ...
