Re: 787 Pilots

That's funny Tango Niner since there is no requirement to tell Gander or Shanwick radio that you are CPDLC since they already know. CPDLC isn't something that shows up on radar, it's something included in your flight plan. Yet 2 days ago... Shanwick came back with Confirm CPDLC ? So l will go back ...

Re: 787 Pilots

Oh, and guys, you don't need to tell every Shannon and London controller you're CPDLC every time you check in, they know. Thank you! This one's a personal pet peeve. The only people that you need to say "CPDLC" to are non-radar guys (i.e. oceanic. Shanwick, Gander Radio etc) If they have ...

Re: New Arbitrated Contract

Oh, the irony! I'm sitting here recalling all the conversations that I've had over the past few years, with all 20-something-year-olds FO's, "educating" me on proper WAWCON and what ALPA was going to deliver. Telling me that we're on course for a 40% pay hike and lots of goodies. Pulling up their "...

Swoop Capt's keep their positions for now. Contract is still being negotiated with 3rd party. Arbitrated settlement ETA is end of Sept.

Re: Westjet mainline commuting

Mob mentality, cyber-bullying anonymously or unprofessional conduct and comments not only will diminish the image of the group, but in the end hurt the bullies more than anyone else; because they are the ones that have to live within that perceived reality every day. One who is miserable and ungrat...

Re: The End of the WPDL Confirmed

Wouldn’t that be something. The Scab pilots that WestJet hired for one of the lowest 737 rates in the world at $103/ hr get removed by the company because they cost too much. Alanis Morissette Might have to write a new verse to her song... “Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think...” Can we do away with t...

Re: How's morale with uncertainty of the one list?

When the arbitrator references the “WestJet Pilot Seniority List” - I believe this is meant to be the WPDL as there’s no indication of it being otherwise changed. The MEC made it clear to Encore Pilots that 30 of them are displaced by Swoop hires. Showing that there is only one list. WeedPro, I sin...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

... A college of professional pilots might actually be a good idea. Unfortunately professional associations need ledgislation to make it happen as they need control over licensing. The licensing forces collectivism. It forces people to do what they are instructed. Which in turn provides leverage at...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

I'm pretty sure that is what happened. People are saying that is too expensive for a bluff but don't realize what the cost to the company could have been if major WAWCON gains were demanded instead of Swoop scope. Too expensive ? What have they invested ? A paint job and a complete cabin reconfigur...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

What if Swoop was only started to make you think you've won something by getting to crew it and forgetting about everything else? Everyone's patting themselves on the back for achieving the 'first thing on the list' but what have you actually gained in terms of salary or working conditions? That wo...

Re: Clive Bedoe plea to pilots video

It's being portrayed on Reddit as a current video, in response to the 91% strike vote we recently held.

In fact this video is from 2013, meant for WJ pilots' eyes only, sent to us prior to voting on our last agreement.

Edited to get the date correct. Thanks Tacoma.
